Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition

Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition

FSX crashes whilst changing aircraft.
I've recently switched to Windows 10. If I' in FSX and try to select an aircraft fro the main menu, the similator crashes, commonly woth no error message.

The same thing happens if I start FSX and try to load a flight different from the default flight.

I have UIAutomationCore.dll in my main FSX folder.

Does anyonw know what's going on? This was fine in Windows 7.

Pontius.

I haven't experienced this at all. I am still using Windows 7. However, I had a seperate laptop that I upgraded to Windows 10 on. The Changing aircraft never crashed. The only thing I can really say is that, Wait for it to load. If this does not work, Tell me or if I am unable to answer, Google it.

It takes a while (15 seconds on SSD) to swap planes in main menu. Can't tell from here if you're being impatient while the sim is loading your airframe choices (and thus crashing the game by clickclickclick in frustration) or if there's a problem with your sim. I haven't experienced this either in Win 7. :\

That is the most likely thing. I always wait for the thing to load, but I'm always patient. I agree with this... Here's a Cookie c: -cookie give-

Ok. Let's test this.

To start, I have deleted all .mdump files from my ..steamapps\common\FSX folder.

I've started FSX and loaded by default fligh: The Real Air Spitfire Ml XIV cold and dark at Plymouth UK.

Both the Spitfire and the scenery has been redered correctly and is visible on the screen. I am not in full screen mode and am not using any borderless windowed display.

So next I click Select Aircraft from the main menu.

The screen turned black. Then it briefly displayed the Spitfire before turning black again. At this point there was a Not Responding message on the title bar. After several seconds, it has displayed the Aitcraft Selection panel. All is good so far.

So I select the Lionheart Piper Pacer.

The screen goes black and then the Pacer cockpit is patrially rendered in the screen - there are no visible guages.

After 20 seconds during which **** I did not even move the mouse **** FSX disappeared from the desktop leaving no error message. The only remaining trace are two files:

fsx_62615_crash_2016_6_13T18_20_14C0.mdmp
fsx_62615_crash_2016_6_13T18_20_27C1.mdmp

in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX.

So it seems there is something wrong and it's wrong either woth FSX or Windows 10.

It seems OK if I change aircraft from the main menu.

Hmmm...That's odd. Did you try to Google it at all?

As far as I remember, there used to be an odd bug in FSX, that make it crash if the default flight does not contain a stock aircraft.
Maybe you should try to restore the original default flight with the trike and see if you are getting the same. This is easy to do, there's one line for the default flight to remove in fsx.cfg, and fsx will set back the original default flight. Just google for that.
Worth a try anyway IMHO.

I remember hearing about that a few years ago. I've tried the C172 and my favourite light aircraft, the Maule Orion and this odd problem still occurs. It seems to be fine when I first select an aitcraft after start up, but after that things start to go awry. I'm beginning to think it's something in FSUIPC but I can't put my finger on what.

You might be missing something in the game files. A Patch I suppose that you are missing. It could also be an addon that's doing it, What addons do you have? Payware and Freeware

Maybe try to disable FSUIPC or some other dlls and exe in the dll.xml and exe.xml files, located in Appdata\roaming\FSX , set the <disabled> flag to true, and see how it gets
