Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition

[SOLVED] I'm missing the Add-On button from my menu
Hi,

I have seen on multiply videos from fsx, that people have an Add-on tab on the menubar they can access. I never had that button/tab in my menu bar. Wat is the problem?

Ty

Step 1: Go to your exe.xml file (located: C:User/appdata/roaming/microsoft/FSX)
Step 2: Open exe.xml file.
Step 3: See if you got ezdok properly installed by seeing this
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>EZdok camera addon</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Path>C:\program files(x86)\EZCA\EZCA.exe</Path>
</Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>

Step 4: If the pathway is correct > Addons tab should show in FSX.
If the pathway is incorrect > Change it too the correct one.

Thnx 2 > stemak and Kabacus

Enjoy flying!

You are in windowed mode right?

If yes, then I suspect you have no add-ons of the type that show you that option on the menu bar. For example you don't have FSUIPC installed?

yes I am in windowed mode. I have Ezdok and Rex 4 installed. But I can't access Ezdok when there is no 'add-on' tab here is my dll

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>

<SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">
<Descr>Launch</Descr>
<Filename>dll.xml</Filename>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>Object Placement Tool</Name>
<Disabled>True</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Mission Creation Kit\object_placement.dll</Path>
</Launch.Addon>
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>PMDG HUD interface</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Path>PMDG\DLLs\PMDG_HUD_interface.dll</Path>
<DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName>
<DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName>
</Launch.Addon>
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>Traffic Toolbox</Name>
<Disabled>True</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Traffic Toolbox SDK\traffictoolbox.dll</Path>
</Launch.Addon>
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>Visual Effects Tool</Name>
<Disabled>True</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Special Effects SDK\visualfxtool.dll</Path>
</Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>
Yes EZdok should create the add-on menu if installed correctly - Rex does not.

Have you had Ezdok running before, or is it a fresh install? .... I would guess it's not installed properly? .... did you run the configuration tool also?

Do you have the free version of FSUIPC installed?

IIRC EZDok makes an entry in exe.xml not dll.xml. Mine is:

<Launch.Addon>
<Name>EZdok camera addon</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Path>D:\FSXFiles\EZDok\EZCA\EZCA.exe</Path>
</Launch.Addon>

You may need to run the installer (and config tool) as Admin if you haven't already.
Yes, I installed Ezdok yesterday for the first time.
Don't know about fsuipc, do you need to install it seperatelly , or is it installed with FSX?
here is the exe file, hmm I didn't install ezdok on my C drive, I installed it on my E Drive. Is that the problem?

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>
<SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">
<Descr>Launch</Descr>
<Filename>EXE.xml</Filename>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Launch.ManualLoad>True</Launch.ManualLoad>
<Launch.Addon>
<Disabled>True</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Name>Addon Application</Name>
<Path>C:\MyPath\Addon.exe</Path>
<CommandLine></CommandLine>
<NewConsole>True</NewConsole>
</Launch.Addon>
<Launch.Addon><Name>EZdok camera addon</Name><Disabled>False</Disabled><Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\EZCA\EZCA.exe</Path></Launch.Addon></SimBase.Document>
Make a copy of this file first (so you can revert back if needed) and yes, correct the path. Hopefully that will sort things for you.

Ok the problem is solved! That did the trick!
Just needed to change the path and now it works. Now I see the add-ons tab in my menubar.
Both of you guys, thank you very much for the help. Have a nice Sunday.

No you don't need FSUIPC ... it's just that it definitely creates an add-on menu - therefore showing for sure that EZdok is not installed properly, rather than a broken FSX.

As Kabacus has shown, the menu has not been created because the sim does not see Ezdok yet.

Good stuff, I see you have it .... it's a great add-on once you set it up.

Yeah, Ive read many reviews about it. And seems that this is the best software for the best views in FSX. Apart from TrackIR I guess.
