Cannot install SimConnect/get SimConnect to work properly
Hi,

I'm having difficulty installing SimConnect onto FSX-SE, trying to get head tracking via opentrack's SimConnect interface to work properly. I'm following the procedure to install all four SimConnect interfaces but when I get to the fourth one (under FSX/SDK/Core Utilities Kit/SimConnectSDK/lib) it always gives the following message and refuses to install:

An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.FlightSimulator,SimConnect,type="win32",version="10.0.63003.0",publicKeyToken="1ed9da73c880e429",processorArchitecture="x86"'. Please refer to Help and Support for more information.

I've already tried looking up similar cases with no success. I'm on a 64-bit Windows 10, and the FSX-SE I'm working with is a clean install. Should also note that I've been able to get head tracking to work properly on the original FSX (Gold Edition) without any major issues on the same OS. Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: I finally managed the get the one under lib to install without any discernible explanation why. SimConnect still doesn't seem to be working, my headtracker isn't picking it up.

I'm using opentrack, I've alternated between 2.3.10 and the latest test version of it. The error is along the lines of "Error occurred while loading protocol Microsoft FSX SimConnect, can't load SDK -- check selected simconnect version" and is the same no matter which FSX version I select.

Mate, I'm having the exact same problem, about to give up on this, Microsoft really likes to make things more complicated than they should be.
I have all 4 SimConnect.msi files installed and FreeTrack still refuses to acknowledge that SimConnect is installed.
With the Output set to "Microsoft FSX SimConnect", as soon as I hit Start in FreeTrack I get the following message: "Error occurred while loading protocol Microsoft FSX SimConnect
dll load failed: Cannot load library SimConnect.dll: Unknown error 0x000000c1."

I honestly don't know what else to try to fix this.
