Really no one has any ideas how to exit this I have reinstalled it and now can get into free flight but still getting the mission failed window when it starts It's very annoying

I just had same problem. I have saved a mission and FSX steam made it the default flight so I had no atc and free flight believed I was in a mission. Searched my hard drive for the mission files (I created when I saved mission) and deleted them. Then when I restarted FSX steam I received the message could not load default (mission) and it reverted to the default flight; trike in free flight. Working for me again. Some bug needs to be reported.

Its not a bug! Its just doing what it was told to do by the user. Like any other game, if you save game just as you are about to be killed or fail the level, when you load that saved game, its going to be just before your death or failure again and again and again and you would realize that you should not have saved the game at that point just before your death/fail. Furthermore if that game allowed you automatically load a saved game at startup and you chose that defunct save, what are you going to get? An endless loop of restarting and failing, restarting and failing. This is user error, not a bug.

Users should never save a "mission" as the "default startup flight" anyway. There is already functionality for saving a mission in progress for the purpose of starting where you left off. When you go into missions there is a checkbox at the bottom of the list that is for showing and loading all of your saved missions, they then appear under the mission they apply to and you select which one you want from there.

Thanks for your reply and consideration and I agree "mission(s)" should never be saved as "default startup flight". In my case my mission was not failed or failing just part way through a long mission with many objectives. So I appreciate your suggestion on the mission checkbox I will look for this. Thank you.
