Error creating Child Window

Hi all.
I am loving the SE version of FSX.
Much quicker to instal and set up than my old Boxed version.
One problem keeps popping up though !
The problem originally manifested itself on my PMDG 737/800
I get a message saying Error creating child wndow.
I aknowledge it, then FSX shuts down.
Now its happening more frequently and with other aircraft.
I hear it could possibly be since the latest windows 10 update.
Does anybody have any news on getting this resolved ?

Microsoft has updated its 3rd party interfaces with the fall creators update which has affected a number of applications. PMDG are one of them. Lockeed Martin have been in contact with Microsoft and a fix is due sometime in November. I am waiting for this update also.

I am using a temp workround at the moment, load the trike first then select the 737 and during flight dont use any drop down menu.

If you want a temp solution roll back to the previous version of w10. I choose not to do that.

My PMDG 747 remains in the hanger at the moment, since I have no workround.

I am in no rush to roll back Windows, if there is an alleged fix coming out this month, then I will keep my pmdg 737 also grounded. I will just stick to vfr flights in the extra 300 s . Give me time to explore these orbx regions in detail. Than you for your assistance.

If you find the .exe for FSX, like steamapps/common/fsx folder, and right click it, go to compatability tab, at the bottom choose change settings for all users, then put it to Windows 7 for compatability mode. I also checked run this program as administrator. Then apply and ok. Retry. I got the child window error every time I changed views, opened VRS, etc. Now I do not get it at all.

Just installed KB4048955 . FSX still gives the "Child window error" and crash to desktop :( I thought they would fix it !!!!!!! Running addons FSLabs A320X and PMDG 737

This is unacceptable Microsoft !!! :(

Same here, read the release notes for kb4048955, nothing in it referes to 32bit environment fixes. They just fix stuff that no one uses and they have no PR.

That's Microsoft for you!

I read on the P3D forums that they wouldn't publically address the 32 bit enviroment fix because it affects only a small group of users and is irrelevant but still it should fix the issue.

Guess it didn't fix anything.

Have Dovetail games been involved in this? It's affecting me too, mainly when I select a drop down menu item and it comes up as unsupported. It worked well up until 2 weeks ago after the October updates. I've installed the November updates and I still have the problem

It fixes the child windows, but fsx still crashes so much (randomly, invalid argument). The fix keeps getting pushed back, and I'm not eager to roll back.

I honestly havent had any issues, except if I run FlyInside FSX VR, only because FlyInside will not open when FSX is set to run as admin/compatabiilty. Then I get the same child windows thing. Other than that, I be a flyin fool
