C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX
Just in case you're not aware (ignore the following if already obvious to you!), then note, the ProgramData folder is a 'hidden folder' in Windows that won't by default display in Windows Explorer. If that's the case on your own rig, change your folder permissions in the Windows Control Panel using the "File Explorer Options" app. Once open, go to the "View" tab, and change the relevent button to "display hidden files folders and drives". The hidden folders on your machine should then display in Windows Exlporer.
I'm guessing, you've probably discovered the Scenery.cfg file that's also found within your Steam installation folders for FSX. It's a 'fraud' that seems to be designed to confuse us all! lol But seems to be completely irrelevent to the Steam install of FSX. Instead the game still uses the same default folder location of the active 'scenery.cfg' as it would do with a non Steam install of FSX. Hope that helps. All the best. :)
The scenery.cfg in FSX main folder is a read-only template, used by FSX for creating the base Vanilla scenery.cfg that goes into ProgramData.
This last one will be updated with all new sceneries that you add to your scenery library.
hello I'm new to steam, I just bought and added FSX SE to my PC
My Steam setup is SSD C:/Steam
My FSX SE setup is in : SSD C:/Steam/Steamapps/Common/FSX
so not in 'program files'
I'm very happy with it, works a miracle. But I have one issue that almost forces me to go back to the boxed version. My issue is also a WIN issue
but I would like to know if any Steam user has any knowledge of this.
I cannot add UTX products to FSX SE. During the Installation I browse to my path , no prob, the installation continues. But just after the final 'Setup completed screen' the UTX options setup screen has to come up. Then I get an error message:
The SCENERY.CFG or other simulator file(s) could not be
located at the expected location below:
C:\Users\Peter XXXXX\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\SCENERY.CFG
I only have FSX SE folder there. I understand from the above that that should make no difference. There is a Scenery.cfg file there, I assume that is the latest FSX SE file.
The final installation does not complete. UTX USA remains not installed.
Im searching allready for a week now , FSIM AVSIM Flight1 many posts on this subject
but have not yet been able to find an answer.
Is there anybody in the FSX SE community who could be of any help , for which I would be so
thankfull. regards Peter
