How to save?

I haven't used Steam or played on PC before so don't know if this is a legitimate problem or just me missing something obvious.

I was playing the first level, but couldn't find a way to quit and save. Neither 'quit to menu' nor 'quit to windows' (or whatever those two options were) asked if I wanted to save. I didn't find a save point in-game either, but maybe I just hadn't reached one yet? I'd broken down the door and had my first glimpse of Killer Croc - was there a save point between there and the beginning of the level?

Most levels have 1 or 2 saving points. Sometimes when you get to a new area, it will briefly say "Checkpoint" in the middle of the screen. There will be a small device nearby and when you walk up to it and press a button (varies by controller), it will give you options to save and continue or save and quit. Your saved game is stored on your computer and (by default) backed up to your steam account on the cloud.

Note: If you chose to save and continue, but then change your mind, or if you are between levels, make sure you use "Quit to menu" before using "Quit to Windows".

Ah, it's all good now - a bit further on and I reached a Checkpoint. Thanks!

Thanks for this, wish i read this first as i lost a good hour after i got to a checkpoint and quit to windows.Nothing in this game is explained very well and on top of manually having to set to use a controller that it even detects from the outset it just shows they don't really care about PC. You should be able to save anywhere. At least the graphics aren't too bad and it does run very smooth

This game is pissing me off more and more. After having to restart the first mission because of some stupid glitch I reach the second part of the level where it clearly says CHECKPOINT. So I assume I can take a break now, right? NOPE, I get to replay the whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ level again. How in the world is it possible that a game is so badly designed nowadays?

Read what flyoffaclif said above. When you see the message, find the terminal and save the game there.
