El Diablo giant black manta boss

I read The Black Pearl in elementary school, and ever since then I have been a fan of Manta Rays (I was so glad to learn that they are totally peaceful and harmless docile animals).

However, in the book, it is a vicious violent beast who protects the stolen black pearl from Ramon who dives to find it (it wasn't actually a violent manta, and was just rumor spread by Sevillano to keep the best pearl beds for himself)

I think it would be really awesome to add El Manta Diablo as a very big, black, red eyed, sharp horned manta ray boss inside a big mountainous cave....something you have to fight in the dark unless you bring lanterns and toss them into the floor of the partially underwater cave.

If anyone has ever played DnD, you know about the Ixitxachitl (sp?) creatures. A race of evil manta rays....THIS is my idea for the boss!
