Should you, at some point, decide to show a bit of "adulting", maybe you could think of a plausible engine upgrade that could be constructed in-game and hit the "Ideas and Suggestions" subforum and politely suggest the idea in a post.
Politely.

It being slower and less effective is a good thing, considering realism.
I mean, look at the recipes - the only things that gyrocopter parts are used for are the frame, cockpit, and rotor, the latter being the only part that actively touches the engine.
And, even then, it is only adding to the engine's workload and not boosting its efficiency.
Think about it. The boat motor alone was designed and load rated to push a boat along a viscous surface (water).
Retrofitted/modified into the gyrocoptor, it now has to lift its own weight, the frame, and the survivor up against the pull of gravity - something it wasn't remotely designed to do which is one reason it conks out at the top of what is still a relatively low altitude.
Think about it this way - take an ordinary box fan that has, essentially, a "propeller" on it via the fan blades, strap it on to the back of a canoe, and compare its speed against an actual outboard motor on the same boat.
Then take the same fan and hold it above your head, telling us how fast and high you flew that way.
You can't. Why? Because the fan will barely move the boat (if it does at all) and won't lift you off the ground. Why? Because it isn't rated for it.
If you want to fly higher and faster, just use god mode and make helicopter sounds with your mouth while pretending. Don't break the "realism"/game for others.
