Can't raise crafting skill.

I can't build the gyrocopter because I'm stuck at level 5 crafting. On my watch I'm a sliver into level 6, but no matter how much nor what stuff I craft or build, it won't raise at all. Has anyone seen this before?

I'm having the same issues for raft building, won't go up for me

I just can’t build a freaking crude hammer. Have the materials but still can’t craft it

It takes a long time to get to level 5. I had to built a 3 floor 15 x 8 house and 3x5 raft to get to level 7. It takes time, the higher the level the more you have to craft to get there.

While I haven't built a large house or anything, I did build a dozen or so walls and floors and I didn't see the progression bar move at all.

It only visibly goes up in segments rather than steady progression to the next level.

So apparently once you hit level 5 the only thing that gives decent construction xp is building rafts. Worked on mine and got to level 6.

I'm not quite sure but I suspect that certain activities give you different experience points against your level progression. Also it makes sense that it takes more and more to progress in levels otherwise you could be way up there at level 7 too early in the game and not have anything to reach after that. I've managed to get to level 7 in crafting, physical and harvesting by day 5, however that was because I used a custom island with all the resources I needed available (thousands of bricks,yucca trees, palm trees, etc), normal game play would take a lot longer.
