Stranded Deep
The game is no longer available for purchase in Germany
Engl.: Why can't you buy the game in Germany anymore? Is this due to the lack of USK or what is the problem?

Ger: Warum kann man das Spiel nicht mehr in Deutschland kaufen? Liegt das an der fehlenden USK oder was ist das Problem?

Well, let's hope they get to it sooner than later because they are missing out on possible sales which might also help fund development of SD2!

There were some law-changes here in Germany. I don't know the details, but every game needs a special german age-verification-sign (like the old USK one).
Vakve has allready contacted the affected developers, but not all of them have updated their store-page.
So I can confirm, that SD is not available in Germany anymore since Nov 15th.
It's up to the developer...

Thanks. However issues like this happens, when developer/publisher are complete abandon the forum(aka support-platform) on their selling-platform, and comunicating only within their fan-boi gated communities, like i.e. their mentioned forum...where ofc....you need to register to inform the developer, about stuff like this.
Just my two cents..
Would never buy something from this develper again.

Engl.: Thanks, hope they read the problem and fix it. Otherwise, I really have to think about buying another game from the developers if that's how they treat their games and the community.

Ger.: Danke, hoffe, die lesen das Problem und beheben es. Ansonsten muss ich mir wirklich überlegen, ob ich ein anderes Spiel von den Entwicklern erwerbe, wenn die so mit ihren Spielen und der Community umgehen.

What do you exactly mean....any examples ?

The current issue/law-change/adjustment was communicated far in advance by Valve to all developers/publishers.
The first message I have seen was Jan or Feb. 2024, than another reminder in April.
So...def. developer fault in this case.
It's not a ban, it's just an age-verification thing....No age-tag = not allowed to sell in Germany.
Valve has established an internal form, which needs to be filled out by the developer...no additional money for any audit needed.
As mentioned before, most dveloper/publisher have allready done this...finaly.
Here...it seems o be, that the devloper is "too busy" with it's closed-gated forum...so missing news on their selling-platform....which is Steam.

EDIT:
More details...not sure of this is link is language-neutral:

Chat GPT can make you a nice list of strange things banned in Germany. I'm just saying Germany is a little heavy on regulation over reach as western nations go. I recall German version of a video game having to change the artwork of Generals had be made to look like robots because otherwise they depict war, when obviously the entire theme of the game was war... Im talking about nonsense censorship laws like this, but I digress.

FSK is for movies. You mean USK.

AFAIK, the game already got USK-12. So it would be much easier to simply edit the store page and add the green USK-12 symbol instead of filling out any forms and waiting for age rating.
Nessa Revane Nov 29, 2024 @ 10:48am
The Publishers have to rate the Game over Steam or USK ... it needs only an age Verification
sanyok Nov 29, 2024 @ 10:56am
You don't need the Valve age rating if you already have the USK rating. According to Valve:
- What if my game has a USK rating?
- If your game has been issued an age rating by going through the rating process directly with USK, you may also enter that information within the store page editor for your game.
So just edit the store page.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
