Yes I do, more so when I first started, although to be fair the Sharks were much more aggressive then and have been toned down quite a bit since, they are still scary though.
I got my first Great White a couple of days ago, it has taken me a few hours game time to do that and I am in no rush to repeat it yet
Air Tanks can be hard to get sometimes, I say sometimes as the Item spawning can be very frustrating at times, you will start a game and go from biome to biome, island to island searching all the wrecks and get 15 compass' and 30 buckets 10 of one medical supply and none of another (especially if it’s the one you happen to need
The next biome or the next play through and it will all be reversed ...or sometimes it all goes your way and it seems too easy lol.
I like to use the phrase “Random is.” I’m sure I have stolen it from somewhere, but amuses me when I am pulling out my hair out and screaming, that if I ever finished the sentence, on here …. *Well I have a feeling I may not post for a while
They can be yes, depending on who you ask as everyone has different experiences. A lot of people experience the sharks knocking them from their raft, and then knocking the raft far away so they can’t get back to it easily, I have not experienced this myself (Not to say others are making it up by the way, there are people who have said it on here that I trust implicitly)
So that one is difficult to answer, as it is subject to the problem that people have different opinions etc, I mean some will struggle with learning effective strategy to start with (I did for a long time) not least of all because they are scary, but also games are meant to challenge so hopefully it will be inevitable that there is a learning curve involved for at least some parts of a game.
Don't dive without a Torch if it is getting dark, and I recommend one anyway if going deeper.
Some biomes do not have a bottom (well appear not too anyway) they just get blacker and blacker where no light penetrates.
Careful when diving deeper wrecks, you will get sick, this isn’t too bad on its own but if you combine this with any other negative condition, it can have a difficult cumulative effect.
Don’t necessarily try to get everything in one dive, come back up for air when needed, unless of course you’re trying to hurry before the Sharks get you :)
The wrecks right now are laid out pretty much the same based on each model, hopefully there will be more variation in the future, but they can only work on so many things at a time I guess.
If you are going to fight the Sharks, I highly recommend trying to get a bandage first if possible, take out the sharks in that area leaving the bandage as long as possible before using it if you can, and then hopefully finding another now you can brave the Sharks, before you do :)
The Sharks right now, if you do want to kill them, stay on top of them (literally sometimes) keep at them and keep hitting them, They will swim away when they have taken enough damage, at this point you can pursue (they usually stick to a straight line swimming away) or go back to land and look for them later. The do heal over time, but it is quite slow.
It is very rare if you stay right on top for them to get any attack in, in fact at these points I seemed to be hit by the tail? So I’m not sure if that is intentional or not or maybe a very rare bug.
They will 9/10 times attack you when you pursue them by gaining enough distance then coming straight back at you (This bit can be a titbit scary!!! Lol), but will only come after you very rarely if you choose to look for them later. They will very, very, rarely try to flank you if you don’t go after them, especially if you give up half way after starting to chase them.
When they attack they almost always hit you, but you will only be inflicted with bleeding status around 60-70% of the time, stick to them at this point they will take very few hits to kill, sometimes just 1 (which can look really cool when they fly back at you and you get that last hit timed perfectly and kill them before they bite you)
Get the flippers asap, now you can stay on top of them without them getting away; (Marlins can still outrun, I have only fought 2 of them so far and they didn’t seem very interested in attacking at all) this reduces their chance to bite you (if you give them no room) to… well I have killed a lot of sharks since the last patch, and with flippers and staying right against them hitting them I have not taken any damage at all.
This included the Great White, the problem with them/it is they like to dive deep and staying next to them means no air, I had to use an Air Tank (Two breaths with it) to kill it without having to let it get any distance between us, I don’t know what would have happened if I didn’t .. well if you look around you will see
That is my experience so far, I am trying to make a little video to demonstrate, but I get distracted or zone out easily at the minute
Hopefully that may help a little with the technical side ...but not the fear exactly sorry!
There is a very good shark guide in the guides forum (I am paid to plug this so …

The dude is quite clearly mad too (The Winged-Pink-Delicerdiraffes ©™® told me so) So I am paid to plug this too:

*Why can I hear people shouting 'do it' outside my window?!
Nice one with your first Great White Shark! :D, Hopefully I'll be able to kill one someday :P.
Thanks again!
Yes.
I was really surprised how much so when I first encountered a shark. I saw it and I was just like "Nope. I'm done." and quit out of the game.
I am learning to deal with them, though. I just started with the ones in the shallows around islands, so I can get on land fast if I need to. They're less scary once you've fought them a few times.
In real life I've actually touched more docile species of sharks, so it's not just an irrational fear of sharks at play here. This game has got suspense down better than most "horror" games.
gl stay alive :)
Not going to lie, most exciting but most terrifying 10 minutes of this game so far for me!
That is a good one.
Be more confident its fun and you are safe RL. :D
Then while looking up information on the game I discovered that the sharks didn't spawn at random. once you kill the sharks, they don't come back. And all of my naturalist sentiments went out the window.
Once you have a system down for eradicating them you feel a lot better about the sharks. :) But then this past update came along and bye-bye went my precious click-and-hold striking glitch. Now I'm back to being a panic-stricken baby. x_x I haven't played much since...
It is amazing how this game makes you feel like you are really in danger. In real life, I have never been afraid of sharks, or the deep ocean. But when I played this game the first few times I was suddenly terrified of both.
I've swam with sharks in RL, but jesus this game gets me haha. I think it's the unpredictability of them showing up. When paddling out and all of a sudden a fin shoots up, yeah, that's a little terrifying.
God knows what's I'll do if I ever find a buoy - paddle away as soon as I can probably xD.
And pay attention to which way YOU are facing too. If possible, do not turn your back to the shark. They seem timid when you are facing them, but very oppurtunistic if you turn your back. Which scares the crap out of me.
Also, it helps to go "waaargh" when you jump into the water. If you die, you feel a bit more manly and stuff.

Sorry for the GoPro plugs, but the vid's were crystal clear. The next vid though deemed fake is more my reaction:

If they decide to add Bull Sharks to the game, it will be a steady diet of crabs & coconuts for this guy.
