Stranded Deep

Difference between current version and complete version?
I downloaded this not expecting much, but the more I play the more I discover that there seems to be a game here, lol. I was expecting an adventure game but got a very clever and immersive survival crafting type game. As I play more and figure out how to craft stuff (and after seeing all the stuff that other players have been able to craft) I'm starting to see the point of the game - basically an interactive version of the film Cast Away, which is pretty neat. Graphics really make it extra immersive to.

So I'm wondering, just how much different is the final product going to be? Aside from maybe the inclusion of an in-game survival guide textbook that helps get you started on crafting (explains the mechanics, lists some simple things you can make) and some tweaks to make it more controller-friendly I don't see a lot else that would need to be added here. Maybe if you want to go all out, keep adding more fauna and findable stuff, I dunno.

Of course, I am not a game developer and maybe there's a bigger, more ambitious goal in mind for this game that I'm not informed about. Anyone have any idea how far along this game is in development and what vision the developers are working towards? Because I'm seeing what, to me, feels like a mostly completed game here.

Also, one more thing I did notice tht seems like it could be slightly improved is the placement of islands on the horizon. As it is now, all the distant islands look evenly spaced in every direction. Doesn't really look all that natural, seems like the spacing should be more random but I dunno if something like that is possible with this game.

The game is NO WHERE near complete. You can find out what ideas they're working on and whatnot here: https://trello.com/b/8MTqueJV/stranded-deep-features-and-concepts

the game is 7 months from finished, also 1 Update/Hotfix per month (not that great)

“We don't want to work on Stranded Deep forever. If all goes well, we're hoping to have it completed by the end of 2015.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
“We're using Early Access to add more content and balance game mechanics through community input. We would like to think of the full release as the conclusion to this process.”

Hoping to, not set in stone right now, unless of course they have stated that elsewhere?

I think all this game needs is inclusion of more items (imagine finding a beached speed boat that you can just add a built engine on to get it running), more natural looking island generating (it still looks good, but it would be even more immersive if the islands on the horizon weren't so evenly arranged), as many more marine animals as possible, more stuff to craft, and maybe an ending. Even if there isn't an ending though this game still works as like an infinitely revisitable management/survival/exploration/survival experience IMO.

Anyone else have ideas as to how this game can be further expanded?

I want a shovel so i can dig holes on my beaches.
Co-op
Fishing rods
Ability to plant potato's yourself
Using a shovel to dig a hole, put fish in there and breed them.
Flippers for faster swimming
Islands with natives with which you can trade, also possibly mate with them and make kind of your own inbred island colony.
random events like seeing a plane crash or something similar, whale hunters, you name it.
Island wildlife apart from crab(will need larger islands for that though.
Bird nests with eggs
Electricity through solar, water or wind enerygy.
Upgradable boats/rafts through sails, attached paddles or cargo places.
The ability to dig up sand from another island and bring it to yours in a bag and ultimately expanding your own island
The ability to refill coconuts with water after you drunk the milk, so I don't have to keep searching for damn buckets.

These are just a few I'd like to see :D.

EDIT: Yeah, and ummm, useful stingrays.

Dogs, or bees, or dogs with bees in their mouths so when they bark they shoot bees at you.

Lots of Piranhasardines!

Oh yeah, and I'd like the ability to plant trees. so I don't have to travel to all those islands to get sticks. And I can make a coconut farm.

I hope they will add a LOT more stuff until final release. Otherwise.. players will have seen everything within the first 2 days and become bored maybe.

And to those who want natives on islands to trade and possibility to build marinas and stuff: You are stranded. You just want survive. You want escape. You want get back to civilisation.

Starting your own nation or build somehow a town with harbor and things.. is really far away from what the game is about.

Just my 2 cents..
