Tides and Currents
Are rising tides/currents going to be implemented later in the game? I'd love to have to drag my raft so that it doesn't get washed away. It would also be awesome to get stuck at sea in a raft during a storm and get swept out into open ocean

You mean. Like this. It's actually not very pleasant because without a compass....I can't move.

The only living creatures that know where I am are the sharks. :)

Yes. But I noticed that even during storms you don't get moved by wind/currents. You stay still if you don't row

Agreed - but to do that they'd have to add anchors because we'd never be able to deep dive on wrecks.

That doesn't seem something entirely impossible to do! Compared to the difficulty of actually simulating current

What happened to you SisterMatic is pretty much why I always bring some food and water with me when I go out on the ocean. Game doesn't let us collect rain water or eat edible seaweed or raw oysters yet and I find it kinda shocking the game thinks we would get sick from raw fish (depends on the fish IRL, what do they think sushi is and that's been out of the ocean far longer?) :(

But yeah, currents would be interesting, once you understand the tides and currents, it can be used to your advantage in sea going ventures, at least IRL anyways. I've met some fishermen IRL who could find their way home in the fog banks just by knowing the currents and eddies due to the terrain under the water being something they recognize from a life time on the water.

Would be nice if we could see storms coming on the horizon too. *shrugs*

Absolutely, fishermen *rely* on currents and tides to fish and also know by the "feel" of the boat (although mostly from wave action) where they are heading.

And yes. Had many a fresh fish sliver on the deck of a boat as it comes over the side. Nothing fresher or sweeter. In fact we used to carry soy sauce and sweet chilli sauce for that very purpose. Nom Nom... :)

(as an aside, was very thirsty in this image - EXPECTED fresh water to be pooling in the bottom of the raft....Alas....)

Considering most islands are 1-2 meters above sea level, any noticeable Tidal changes would put most islands underwater during Tidal rises.

That's reasonably well represented in game. Notice how vegetation is centred and the entire perimeter is sand or rock. There's even sandbars (a tidal creation) and pools on some islands.

I imagine raising sea-level to simulate tides is quite doable (with a full moon every night lol) but not sure how they could implement currents.

Seconding what SisterMatic said.

Also, I wouldn't mind if most islands (see: shoals and atolls) ended up underwater in a storm surge in the game. Better hope you stored your stuff where it won't be washed out to sea :D
