Beta means the game has all of the features(except maybe some minor ones) and is still buggy.
And once the majoriy of the bugs are fixed(especially the major bugs) and perhaps some more minor features have been added or some balancing has been done, the game is released and usually will still get updates for bug fixes and some minor balancing.
Developers release alpha in unplayable state due to raft bug (which is understandable, they're a two man team and it's an alpha)
Someone releases mod that allows you to swim super fast
That isn't an I win button, it's a solution to the raft problem.
-No base building as you'll never find your island again
-No real progression in the game due to only having so many inventory slots
But
-Gives you a chance to find and test items
-Gives you a chance to test item combinations
Seems pretty good to me. Not like they have any intention of keeping it this way.
