How to get into a ship wreck?

I spawned on an island where the top part of the boat was fully above water. The railing on the side of the boat was level with the surface of the water and I could open the door on it. If the raling of the boat is level with the water am I SOL or is there a way to climb onto the boat that I'm not seeing?

Pull the raft along side and climb up

Drag a palm tree you cut down over to it and prop it up on the edge... climb up the palm tree onto the deck ... pull palm tree up and stuff it down the hatch on deck otherwise you will get stuck down there too.

This works too except he will still get stuck down in the hull of the ship if he has that one boat that's buggy hatch.
