Often bout 1.5 minutes

It feels like 1 min for sardines, 2 mins for crabs, those are the only things I've cooked so far, and that is only a rough estimate, I didn't time them or nothing..
fish are faster. its at least a full minute never actually timed it. If you balance it on the fire you can walk away and you should still hear the ding when it finishes. I have never burnt anything in this game yet,(In Rust food burns real quick)

I am just eating coconuts and potatos until I make the campfire with the spit that holds the food for you.

Quando a comida esta pronta, emite um sinal... (ding)..... agora eu só acho que quando feito uma fogueira a gente deveria reacender a fogueira com mais stick.....

Do the coconuts work for eating or just drinking?? I haven't been playing long but i would like to know if this is an alternative to cooking crab since i have a million coconuts laying around.
you can eat them. You have to chop them into coconut halfs. THere is no impact noise on the coconuts but its about 5 hits

fish you can eat raw aswell as potatoes never fallen ill apart from raw crab makes you sick

Yeah fish can be eaten raw, you won't get sick - it's sashimi! ;)

Also for those that don't know it, you can hold down RMB and 'drag' fish or crabs onto your camp fire - you don't have to just throw them on there or hold them - you can delicately balance them on top of the fire ... I didn't know that the first day. It looks silly but it works.

If you have enough stones (probably not) you can build a fire pit and then a spit (see crafting guides) and hang your fish on that to cook but I don't bother because rocks are too hard to find. I just balance the crab on top of the flames and watch it bobble around while it sizzles. LOL.

"DING!" fries are done!

when you make the spit how do you hang the crab on the spit? i can balance and once the camp fire is used you have to build a new pit or am i missing something?

You can 're-stock' your camp fire with more sticks...just hold them in hand and feed them (LMB) back into the fire until full and relight it.

aslong as the camp fire/pit is still alight tho?
Vexare Jan 25, 2015 @ 9:53am
No, you can restock it with sticks after it burns out and relight it just fine.

Thank you sir, this has just saved me from continuing to throw crabs endlesly at my fire waiting for the perfect sizzly landing! :)

LOL glad to help. I kept doing the same thing until someone pointed out I could actually hold them over the fire - had no clue. :P Also, if you're really good - you can just balance it there bobbling around on the flames which is of course ridiculous but works.
