It's possible to sink the yellow raft
As title. I managed to overload the raft with coconuts and tools thinking I could get away with bringing more things away from an island outside of the backpack.

Nope! My raft is currently 2 feet under water and I'm trying to lighten the load.

Wonder if this is by design or the unity physics are acting up?

Cool! That´ll teach you not to be a greedy stockpiler! Don´t take more than you can carry. Think about the environment. Think about all the other poor survivors out there. I hope your raft gets punctured by a sea urchin !

Physics, friend.
I don't think a life raft would be able to handle a bunch of coconuts, tools and other items together with your weight irl either, it's not a transport boat. :SBpanda:

I don't know, I just did a fast google search. This rinky dink coastal life raft is capable of:

Buoyancy in Salt Water: Total: 1143 lb. (518.5 kg.)

http://www.switlik.com/marine/cpr/tech-specs

Now I know ours is a bit smaller, but I gotta think it's good for at least 500 lbs based on that raft, no?

That's for sure. if u carry too many things it must sink beacuse of overload.
By the way, dropping some specific goods in raft can't be visible.
Secondly,I suggest rafting can be fixed to be more smooth and efficient.

I agree that if you overload the raft it SHOULD sink. But it's a bit wonky at the moment. I'm experimenting with it, and the player weighs nothing. Items seem to weigh alot, unless it's in the backpack, then it weighs nothing.

Load up about ~60 lbs worth of stuff in the raft, and it sinks without the player in it. Take a single item out so it ALMOST sinks and jump in, no effect. XD

The physics is broken, a raft like that, in real life can easily support over 1000lbs. They are survival rafts designed for between 4 and 8 people (depending on size. You should be able to carry every coconut on the island all your loot and then some.

I think the raft travels MUCH more slowly when even a single item is inside it as well. It's like the life raft has to drag the item along.

it's not as bad as what i tried to move to my main island on the raft, i tried to move about 15 sticks, 25 logs and a few other stuff. tried to pedal while standing on the logs, the raft didn't even move an inch.

Does need polishing. I like that it sinks, but as many have mentioned - weights are off.

For a real survival experience - all creative bases should be covered. Should be able to tether a wooden raft to the rubber raft to carry more, including the wood that the raft is constructed out of. That brings me to the issue of being able to deconstruct large crafted items like foundations. At least that, and be able to pick up bed, fire spit, and re-purpose fire pit (stones).

Should be able to craft a cast-net - to catch many small fish at once. This net could also hold coconuts that would lash to the raft without adding weight = coconuts float - Wood floats - the more of these items that are lashed to the raft - should increase it's buoyancy - not sink it.

Another thing that doesn't make sense - the raft should be usable for (fresh) water-catchment when it rains.

There's TONS of potential with these games - Hoping you get all the support necessary to continue their evolution!

I wonder if there will be uses for a damaged raft.

I think it was in the ww2-based movie Hell in the Pacific, Toshiro Mifune's character had used an old liferaft (or maybe it was a tarp?) that he used to collect rainwater (also starring Lee Marvin).

That'd be an interesting survival mechanic, in case you couldn't find the bucket, or if you didn't have coconuts.

...aaaaand, I checked, if you want to see this movie clasic, do so now beforfe it's removed from Youtube. It's the full movie.

Or, if we can use duct tape to seal up tears in the raft. GOOD OLE DUCT TAPE!!

As for realism: I am carrying 32 engines with me all the time. Just for training purposes.

When I drop them, I feel like in godmode!

The devs are still working on the buoyancy, I'm sure eventually sticks will float on the water instead of sink like a rock. And yeah a life raft like that could hold A FEW sticks and lashing at least right? Don't know about rocks..(realistically Speaking) I wouldn't. :/
Probably tare something or puncture a hole.

Five years later and nope, sticks still sink like a rock :/ I like that item count affects the raft's buoyancy, but it's BS when the items themselves don't have a weight system. For example, I racked up my raft with a couple yucca fruit, lashings, a lantern, a torch, about 5 palm leaves and it started to sink? It's just... unfair. It's stupid that you can put like ten sticks, 5 rocks and it starts to sink BUT when you replace that with fruit, some plants it still sinks regardless of the fact that leaves or fruit weight nowhere close to a freaking rock. I just don't think it's fair that my raft can sink without a real weight system, buuut I hope devs will address this before releasing the game if they want it to be a bit more realistic
