How can you drop items in your inventory for crafting?

Oh I hear you! I'm just wondering, how exactly do you drop the itmes to the ground when they're already in your, "tab", inventory.

Equip the item so it's in your hands & then press Q.

It's like minecraft, you use Q to throw things on the ground.
