I rebinded my Q key to put items up. My ` button drops things.
Did you know if you are holding an item with [RMB] up in the air, you can "throw" it by pressing [LMB]?
By running, sprinting, doing 180 (or 360 if you are pro gamer) motions and pressing [LMB] while letting go of [RMB] I can throw items so far away they despawn from view.
I've thrown Wooden Containers up so high they despawned from view and spawned back into sight falling down meters away to the side a half minute later.
Or chucking items from the shore into my island and having them dissapear in the air, and finding them later at the other end of the island.
If you are ferrying Barrels/Tires from wrecks to shore, this can be a nice way to saving time if you get the muscle memory down.
Plus you can actually do some pretty impressive Hog'Tossin' and Shark Floppin' action going out and make mini games for yourself like Bowling. Or Coconut Basketball with a "hoop" and ball catch.
I changed most of the hotkeys, and I have an amazing Hcman £12 mouse where I can assign macros to buttons, that's so handy! The trigger button (not many mice have that one) has a macro to light the fire, how good is that... I love this cheap mouse. Almost every button has a macro for doing things in game.
