Stranded Deep
Which engine is the game using?
I wondered if this is the CryEngine or Unreal Engine 4 or anything else?

*chuckles* You all think the same as my brother... It's created with Unity, but has loads of custom shaders and that kind of thing which makes it non-unity looking. If you really look closely it doesn't look much like CE3 either, it's way more vibrant.
unity =)

Is it me or does Unity games suffer from severe pop-in? Like campfires and coconuts popping in right in front of you. Even big boats pops in close to you. Really ruins the experience.

Not having any serious lod issues at the moment. I did have the coconut one pop up once and a while, not sure why but usually I see them from a good distance.

I have coconuts popping in a lot too, from short distances. And logs, and trees as I walk from one end of island to another. In terms of stuff on the ground, it's when you have a large pile that they start poppin' more and more. The more stuff you toss around the more it tends to pop, I think. At least for me.

I was wondering the same thing because it looks liek the perfect engine to start my game idea.

It's Unity. It's mentioned *somewhere* that they are using Unity. Maybe even in the files, I forget.
