Increased shark activity at night?
I noticed that Lionfish are more active at night - they swim directly underneath the water surface and become quite a pain in the ass.
What about sharks though? Are they more active too? Do you notice any difference?
I am not sure but I think in reality they hunt more at night too.

Due to sharks having to swim 24/7 to keep water (and thus air) running past their gills, they are mainly opportunistic hunters and do not favor any time of day.

That makes sense, thank you

Not true. Many species of sharks have periods where they are more active. Tiger sharks are usually nocturnal. Coming into shallower waters to feed at night, and moving into deeper waters during the day. While great whites are diurnal. Feeding most often after dawn and before sunset. This said, both species remain active throughout the day. But go through rest stages where they let one half of their brain "sleep," and then the other. But their patterns can change if certain factors change. For example, some tiger sharks have become diurnal as the result of shark tourism providing easy food, in the form of chunks of fish.

As a side note, not all species of sharks are ram breathers. That being that they have to move in order to breathe. As some can gulp water to breathe. And can actually go through periods of full restful sleep, while doing so.

Hm, right now I actually remember a documentation where a guy was bitten by sharks and they said that he was very stupid to swim with those sharks at sunset.. but I really don't remember the species

Ah, I see. I have always heard that the great whites and tiger sharks didn't follow patterns and were known to be very opportunistic hunters. But, I can see how things like prey migration/activity hours could effect how their feeding patterns adapted. Also, I do know that there are sharks that do not require to constantly move and I did know about how they actually slept, I find it rather amazing. Thank you Drake, it's always a pleasure to actually learn some things while posting on a forum.

Ahahah Love The Wiki Trolls . Remember its a game , the sharks in your aria ar eonly in that zone, you cant think the game is going to be so perfict to real life that the sharks will move in that pathing. They work proper as never stoping , they dont hunt more at night or day , and their actions to you are always randomly genorated from hostile to curious.

if you want to learn more about REAL LIFE sharks i sugest you buy a Tv in the early 2000s and notice Shark Week has been going on for like 10 years. Its a game , if it was real thoughs sharks would actually bump you to test , and most likely leave you alone. but wheres the fun in that?

Sharks don't just "bump you to test", they rather take a test bite, which can be fatal for a human because of their teeth and strength.. they may let you alone after this bite, but you can still die of blood loss..

And I didn't want to start a discussion about shark behavior in real life, or how realistic the game is. I just asked if you noticed increased shark activity at night. In game.

you would have noticed it when patch .3 came out in the patch notes
Klumpatsch Mar 29, 2015 @ 10:39pm
Well, it could have been a feature since first release of the game. I don't know because I started playing with 0.3

I searched for "shark activity at night", "sharks at night" and "shark activity" and didn't find anything. Didn't want to bother searching hundreds of threads.

Search More Spisific to game changes , Not What people complain about. Then youll see that the Devs have told us the sharks are now more agressiv.

And Frankly at 150 Days in with a 4 story and like everything possibal ,,, still playing , sharks have never been that bad, i think people just dont know how to kep headings or maby they just panic. All in all , the sharks are not the problem ,t hey work fine right now save for great Whites not breaching as much as they would to test you.

Yeah I agree, I have played nearly 30 hours now and got bitten only twice, 1 time pushed off my raft and 0 times killed by a shark. I even swam through deep sea several times and nothing happened. The people who say that they can't even leave their home island are probably bad players or a bit too afraid.

Only time a shark has killed me was on a trip to my home island bleeding from a love bite from a tiger shark that got a good bite on me in shallow water. A team of white sharks knocked me off my raft and mugged me... No, wait... Bit me and that is when I noticed for the first time that great whites hit harder then tigers do. Long story short, it wasn't the actual shark that killed me but, the last half of the journey to my home island where I bled out.

Come face to face with some of the most life threatening scenarios that will result in a different experience each time you play.

Random can be quite ....random :bbamsmily:
