Movie Inspiration
I think it’s safe to say that Castaway(2000) had a lot of influence in the game and design.

What other movies might go well whilst paddling around in game?
Or maybe a movie you would recommend to a DEV for inspiration.

Yes, I have already watched Castaway while playing in game.c :D

-All is Lost (2013)

Peter Brooks 1963 classic based off the book Lord of the Flies.

Blue Lagoon (Brooke Shields!). Haha!

More seriously - Robinson Crusoe? Swiss Family Robinson? Mosquito Coast? Swept Away (1974, not the horrid remake)?

If just a survival or isolation theme is ok vs. just tropical area settings or something, movies like Alive, I Am Legend or Omega Man or The Last Man on Earth, Dead Calm (a nice minimalist thriller set on a boat) etc. (edit - Perfect Storm, maybe, too?)

...not many, really. Most are played as romance or comedies or family/children's movies, I think.

Mostly around Tahiti (It's a *magical* place.) So, yes technically, we are within range if they ever wish to add Mako.

Yes, I've heard it described as "a magical place", it sounds lovely ;) except for the sharks..

All is Lost, The Grey and Kon-Tiki would all fit into that extreme survival setting. Kon-Tiki was rather good since it takes place in similar waters as stranded deep.

Right messed it up, fixed it. And sharks aren't so bad once you eat them.

Also Why not pick out the few episodes of " survivor man " " duel survivor " and that one with the guy who drinks his own pee - snickers - when they do the ones based on the aria We play in. There is one where he survives on a life raft for half of the show and lands on a very simaller island to what we get.

Stay Alive -

Yeah, I have been trying to think of some other good survival movies and can't really come up with anything.

Now if you wanted to watch a pretty amusing survival series "Dude, You're Screwed!" has been pretty decent.
I think it may be more accurate to say this game is inspired by the environs of its developers. They're Australian right? They live on an island less corrupted by modernity than most of the countries we all live in. Just a thought.

In short, I feel like this game takes its cues less from a few movies than it does from nature itself.
