Stranded Deep

Strandd deep without a paddle
Let me first start off with, I love this game. It is coming along really nicely.

I do have a complaint about the paddle though. Nobody anywhere makes paddles that don't float. And can you guess why? That's right, the second you loosen your grip, you are up a creek without one.

I was in the middle of the ocean at a really deep wreck. Before I dived in I went to hit the TAB button but because I have big hands I accidentally hit the Q button first. Now my paddle is at the bottom of the deepest biome of the game and I have to try and swim back to my island but there is a shark around my raft that won't go away.

There really needs to be a fix for this. I can always cheat and put in the code for god mode but I REALLY hate cheating in a game. Please fix this. If you want to make the game realistic then you really need a paddle that floats. Especially as they aren't craftable.

Yes, use at your own risk, it will spoil part of the game but it does help when you want to quickly try something or just not lose your raft to the hungry ocean.

Check here for the key to open the console:

And here for the console commands, godmode's at the bottom:

Check the mod section, there's a mod that let's you craft everything with one stick I think. Just don't blame me when you don't enjoy the game anymore :P

Nah, I was hoping to spawn in a motorboat.
Mine MIGHT have sunk to the bottom of the ocean.
I blame that whale I spent 3 axes chopping.

This is the biggest reason I save right before I leave an island and right after I get to the next one. Lost several life rafts and motor boats along the way.

I agree to a basic oar-crafting, at least, maybe it can also be used to defend against shark attacks. Not saying an oar will do much damange; just maybe keep a shark a bay if it gets close. Or, it might just piss off the shark anyway. That'd still be fun. :)

I did of course use God mode to solve the problem but I use God mode very sparingly as it does completely destroy the game atmosphere. I stand by my original comment though that a paddle, oar or whatever you want to call it should float. No one would ever design an ore that wouldn't float as it would be pointless.

I agree. Them floating again would be as helpful ingame as being realistic.

Definitely save often. I just died by getting stuck in the hold of a boat. I starved to death while chasing around a lone sardine with a rock shard trying to prolong the agony of defeat for as long as possible.

I would like them to float just because of realism. Good point.

We should be able to combine a spear and oar to create a spoar so we can paddle and stab sharks at the same time.

there needs to be a giant shrek that comes on your island in the middle of the night.
its all ogre now :D
