Fishing Traps
How many fish can you catch in one trap? So far I have only been able to catch a single fish at a time. But, that could just be me being impatient.

On a piece of shark meat, I am fairly sure I got 3 sardines. Shallow water, and I waited about 10 minutes. I think it depends on a few things, bait type(size?) and placement of trap being the main factors, but I'm not 100% sure.

You can bait it with anything, I use crabs or half a coconut shell

Thank you, I will have to work with them some more. I have 6 of them in the water, just trying to see if they are worth the mats needed to make them.

if you catch somethin useless like clownfish or anglefish use them as bait right away. some fish isn't edable...

The fish trap was the best thing to come out of this update. Is it more effective in deeper water? Shame it can't be attached to rope and hung off the sea forts.

Seems to be just as good in deep or shallow water but, the type of fish you get changes depending on where it's placed. I still haven't seen more then 1 fish at a time. 6 crafted 2 in shallow and 4 in different types of deep water including 1 on a sunken boat.

I agree the traps are awesome, im having alot of fun checking them and trying to keep track of them ( ive asked Wollie to watch them but he cant seem to be bothered , keeps mumbling something about not being able to find his shoes ). As the devs have time to work it will be cool to see the wildlife get more diverse , i bet in no time were gonna be eating lobstahs and octopus an seriously once that happens , whos gonna wanna ever be rescued, Love this game keep up the good work fellas.

traps are confirmed awesome - haven't eaten a coconut in like 10 game days

So... Still no one having luck catching more then a single fish at a time?

no I think that is how they work - i only get one at a time

I don't think you can... the trap is pretty useless right now. it's way faster/easier to catch fish with a fishing spear. we need to be able to catch something unique that only trap can do... like a lobster or maybe a squid?

Maddening... I use fish traps when I go Ocean Fishing irl. We drop one in with a rotten crab and catch dozens of bait fish (often multiple types including sardines and fingerlings of all sorts.) So the idea that a trap only catches one fish at a time is a little unrealistic.

it'll be fixed...jsut like the spawn rates of the sea forts.

and ... I like the idea of catching lobsters :)

There were reports of putting four pieces of bait in a single trap, catching four fish.
