Resources washing up to shore
Not sure if this is an actual feature or a glitch but I never really noticed it until now (granted I didn't play much of the last build as it felt a bit flat). Every so often when I wake up from a sleep I will find new sticks and rocks around my island, which is actually great because eventually you do run out of basic resources which are not renewable.

So how about making this more of an actual feature? Have a random chance of resources to wash up upon the shore after sleeping, and not just sticks and rocks but more rare chances of full logs washing up, dead shark carcasses, or even stuff you can find in shipwrecks (though make that super rare).

Great idea! Thumbs up.

I dig that. Heck, even rocks/sticks are useful for now.

if you do a google image search for "ocean debris on beach" you'll see there's a lot of room between the stuff in game now, and reality.

That's actually a great idea. I really hope they make that a feature.

If we get tides this will be more believable than just appearing

Having tides would be great for the believability of such a feature, absolutely!

Now having rocks and sticks wash ashore just frequently enough such to help you a little but still feel the incentive to sail to the next island would be great. But what about the more rare resources? Thinking this over, even if it's very rare, how would you guys feel about parts to a motor engine appearing on your shore? Or a compass? And so on?
Sparzy Feb 19, 2015 @ 8:08pm
I think a motor engine shouldnt, it'd be too heavy but i could totally see a skeletal arm clutching a compass washing up
Drake Feb 19, 2015 @ 8:25pm
I like the idea. Especially once they implement tides. Though as stated by Sparzy, the floatsom should largely be limited to things that can float, with the occasional heavier objects being shifted along the bottom by more powerful weather systems, if they implement them. I would like to see random trash like plastic bags, bottles, and soda cans get added to the crafting system. There is tons of garbage in the ocean and it has been carried all over the world, even to remote islands.
