Stranded Deep

How deep is the ocean?
I get pretty horrible anxiety with the deep water, although I really try to suck it up enough to go wreck diving around the islands.

I was just on a trip between islands when a heavy fog rolled in and the ocean turned red. On my way, I was able to see a sunken ship beneath the water, although I was still pretty far out into basically open ocean.

I also went diving fairly close to my island and it went so deep that I couldn't see and got "ill". Anxiety attack ensued and I quickly swam back up and to the safety of the land.

Can we put into terms how deep the ocean is in this game? Is it comparable to the depths of the Well of Eternity in the Hyjal zone of WoW, ot any other type of comparison? I'm hoping it will help me get over my fear of the deep.

actually, they have. Theres a big green shark (from one guy look at Stranded deep shark hunting and tips)and crashed UFOs all on the ocean floor. its a long way down, and pitch black(if u dont have any lights (i.e flashlight, torch, soalr lantren) also there are a lot of great whites on the way, making the trip down risker, as they can insta kill u. Now I can't confirm the green shark, nor great whites at the bottom, nor the UFOs, although i have seen a few pictures of the UFOs... they looked like they were part of the game, but a photoshop master could easily pull that off..

Well, they could have just called the game "Stranded Not So Deep So Those With Phobias Won't Freak Out" But they didn't did they?

I hear you OP, I have the same fear of murky dark depths. I got that same anxious wave pass over me before I suck it up and dive down into the dark to find whatevers making those bubbles.

The worst is when I swim under water parallel to the surface waiting for a dark shape of wreck to come into veiw like some rusty leviathan. In a wierd way I actually like how it creeps me out because it gets the me pumped up.

And sharks, hah I always make sure both local tigers are dead before I explore an area around an island. :)

The UFO's are real, but they're not in in the "bottomless" biomes. Nothing is in those. They're in "deep sea" biomes which do have a bottom. They don't save in the save file, just like the buoys. There are a couple mods out there that let you craft them though, at least until you reload the save.
Mouse over the blank space below if you want to see them (spoiler).

I am so glad I'm not the only one. What's weird is that while the deep water and wrecks creep me right the heck out, the sharks don't scare me too much, and they're the real danger.

I get those rarely now, but when i first started I had them basicly every time i got in my raft to go to another island. But it comes over me when I hear a "shark noise"(the little tune that plays when a shark is near by) and I already was in there and there were good stuff, and i am without any weapon besides a rock shard(they do slow things down a lot, but they are invincible)... so I freak out and try to find alternitve ways to get out... there is only one which it is not possible; the infamous (patched) Hatch of Death boat, when your in the top part of the boat, w/ stearing wheel
