Yeah, this is my thoiught exactly. Have you people ever seen trees that fall into water? They sure as hell don't float.
Wait someone should go back in time and tell these guys wood doesn't float.

You are an idiot. I've chopped trees down clearing land near bodies of water and trees do not always float - it also depends on the size and type. This is clearly an exploit that OP wants to continue to use.
No need for name calling...
Yes, not all trees are incredibly buoyant. Some float like Styrofoam other sink like bricks. An entire industry was built based on the buoyancy of freshly cut trees. Most trees will soak up water over time and sink. Some quicker than others. The main point being that we are using these specific trees to create rafts so should't the tree itself float?
and.. Not being able to drag a tree from one island to another is either a poor game mechanic or a not yet implemented/supported feature. NOT an exploit..
Being able to FLY a tree is an exploit.
Cocos palm trees have a very variable density of 0.25 to 1.10 g/cm³, which means most of them would float. (Older palm trees in general are heavier - and harder - than younger ones.)
And of course hazens1 is right: If a raft made out of palm wood is supposed to float, then the tree itself should float, too. It is just logical.
No, it isn't.
Poor game design becuase you can't drag a tree from island to island. ROFL ROFL ROFL....
Cut the damn thing up and take it 4x4.
BUT! now attaching the tree or a few trees to the back of your raft. Now your talking.
And I would like to see someone in RL carrying 32 engines.
I ment that because there is noway to attach trees together or to the raft if I really want to transfer more than I can fit in my backpack I need to drag it. And I dont count it to be so unrealistic yet because inventory system is in its alpha stages. It is basicly the same thing to drag the damn tree across islands than chop it to sticks and fit it in your pockets/backpack... In real life water is used to transfer trees (like mentioned above comments) and no lumberjack wouldnt stuff trees in their backpacks.
