Getting home
Do you ever get saved, or rescued in this game?

Thanks.

no

however sometimes in the game a plane flies by overhead, its very high up and shooting a flare is useless. hopefully devs later add some feature in the game where you get rescued.

Rescue is in the plans. It won't be easy either.

Then what do you do?

"Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip ..."
...I hope achieving rescue takes several in-game months at the least, even if you focus entirely on the quest system for it. :)

OP - the current alpha has no rescue option, no. But as already mentioned, it's in the future plan to have a method for it.

Yes, and no. If you get enough flares, you can signal a plane. When the planes lands in the water (its one of those planes with the things on the bottom so it can float.) the engine stops and the door opens. Out comes this black knight in full armor with a claymore...or some other weapon. He charges you when you approach him and kills the crap out of you.

Are you saying the knight is evil, just because he's black? *singing voice* Raaaaaacism

Nah... just kidding. :P

No. After one year you are a vagabond of the archipels. The world you knew is a dream that haunts you, but the days and nights you've spent made it smoothly fading away as the ocean's waves one by one carried away your hopes to return to your previous life. Your skin is burned by the sun and taned by the salty sands. You could have died in the airship, and manytimes after that...but there's no life but yours, unless you could find some one else...You decide to reach the deep ocean after building a bigger raft, in the search of a road the reach the continent, to the east or the west, facing the storms and the tempests, 'till you may cross the way of a ship. If there is a chance. Ne ?

Of all the people here, I was sure you were one to know the rules... NO Zombies, Minecraft, Battlefield, Magadongs, and... of course Dark Souls. :P :D

lol it was a joke. people were asking for the game to be harder....and Dark Souls was the only thing i could think of in recent games that was more difficult then most games nowaday. Plus, those Black Knights could get people pissing in their pants.

Dark Souls was hard? Wasn't it you, proposing to play Ghosts 'n Goblins? THAT was hard!

P.S.: I know. ;)

Potential rescue ideas:

1. Build a raft (a bigger version than is presently in the game), make a sail somehow, load it up with supplies and set out onto the sea in the hope of being rescued (a la "Castaway").

2. Build a giant bonfire and wait for the right moment to light it. This can either be from a passing plane overhead (not the commercial airliners that have been spotted in the game as they are too high up) or a boat. Vigilant horizon watching and attention would be needed - as in real life.

3. Find the flare gun and hope to get rescued (as with number 2).

4. Find the boat that was lost by the divers who owned it. This is a reference to the Divers Slate currently in the game. If you can find the boat (needle in a haystacks chance) you can make some repairs and attempt to sail it to civilization. Maybe it has maps and charts that could help you with this? Maybe the sails are ripped from a storm and you need to try and patch them up? etc.

5. Repair a radio. Hear me out on this one... I suggested in other threads that the possibility of WW2 era Japanese bunkers spawning on some islands (randomly and rarely of course) could allow the player to use them as a shelter. They could find a bunk instead of having to make a bed, find a weapon - possibly rusted up and without ammo (which would be really scarce anyway in which case it's a glorified club - tough luck!), find fuel in jerry cans and other supplies like a shovel or machete for example - and a long range radio set if present. If you can find the parts to repair it you can literally call for help. The rarity of the bunkers and the parts makes this a challenging one.

6. Find the buoy and tamper with it in the hope that somebody comes to repair it. There are numerous early warning system buoys in the world for tsunami prediction (the are called DART buoys) and the buoy can be used to represent that. If you find it then you can maybe use it to get rescued. The buoy should also be like the divers boat (i.e. "a needle in a haystack") and hard to find.

7. Construct a huge SOS sign on the island. Would take up a huge amount of resources like logs and rocks etc., as well as being labour and calorie intensive but could be seen by a passing plane (again, small not one 30,000 feet up).

8. Just plain old survival. If you can make it to X days (a really high number which would fit the challenge of the game - needs to be tougher than it is in its present state) then maybe you are fortunate enough that a passing yacht finds you and you are rescued.

These are just some ideas I had or saw some other people mention in other posts that could work as a possible end game scenarios.

The radio one makes sense. Looting all those ships would have radios but would be hard to find all the parts. Most of the time the radio parts could be damaged and worthless. Maybe a special component only found in a rare plane wreck.

If it sticks to the story that it 'might' be based on then there is no boat I 'm afraid.
