How do I cook food on a fire spit?
I tried placing it ontop and then I gave up. How do I do it

I did it like this :

Build Fireplace
Upgrade to Firepit
Upgrade to FireSpit
Take Lighter in hand
left click on FireSpit to Light
Take crab in hand
Left click on FireSpit to place crab up top
Wait for DING!
Left Click on FireSpit to take Cooked Crab into hands
Left Click to eat

Got it, I couldn't figure it out for myself because I am stupid. But you sir are as smart as albert einstein, bill gates and morgan freeman combined XD

You need to skin (De-Shell) the crab first by interacting with it while holding a knife.

Use Kindling for lighting the fire now...... Create it in your crafting window.

hehe..its really good someone searched for an answer.. but a post from 2015 is pretty far back.. and waaaaaaaaay out of updates..

Doesn't help that Steam doesn't bring up search results in any chronological way ...well not when I search anyway :(

But 2015?? mmmm.. I do go with a make a new one.. :-p

Why the hell would you deshell a crab before cooking, never happens in real life so why in a game.

In real life your average person:
Couldnt spear fish.
Couldnt figure out how to start a fire, even tho' their life can depend on it.
Couldnt create a working evaporation still, nor have any idea how to make a functional condensation still.. plus the time involved in the process would probably see them dead before they got any water anyway.
Couldnt build a raft able to hold together.
Probably would have a heatstroke anyway...

Sometimes.. you have to just let some things go for a game.
