I think they are glitching out the build mechanics. Try placing a foundation at minimum level, and then crafting another one directly above it at max level maybe?

Won't be able to add steps to base foundation to get up. There are some done using flipped foundations etc.. but pretty messy.

Perhaps wait until we can stack on top of foundations. With any luck, next issue?
I would not. You cannot go underneath max level height foundations. it's almost like a solid cube, nothing can go in between the legs, despite being completely clear

I want alot of thing in this game but the one thing i like about it now is houses, building them is the only fun thing to do so I think they need to make them more useful and fast.

If you run 2 parallel levels of foundations you should be able to link with steps (when foundations get build) to make it appear as 2 storey. Steps are outside the "cube".

And maybe they'll allow a second type of foundation to be mounted on top of supports - like the roof? Then it's potentially unlimited.

I think they're working on being able to make 2nd story huts, so it may be a game-feature before too long. At least that's what I'm hoping, because trying to do it now by fudging mechanics is way too much work for me.

...you have to turn foundations into rafts, put a center pole in the raft, and various other things I didn't pay attention to because I don't plan on doing it myself. ;)

am i the only one who only finds joy in the game by building my house? should i just go play sims?

Oh I like building houses. I just prefer it to use game mechanics that are designed for the purpose. But I greatly admire those who do have the patience to jury-rig something up.

This was the thread earlier today where someone showed theirs off, and some discussion about how it's done occured;

Absolutely not. Many of the guys here build some pretty fascinating stuff. It's just that some are doing it....the hard way atm :)

Alpha v0.01, Most items are probably just placeholders for the final product, just give them time to develop it more, the game's been out 2 weeks....

yeah I know thats why i bought it so early so my opinion would matter just a little more.

Well that's true, that's why we're all here, and I'm not disagreeing with you, in fact there are many more that are in agreement for your ideas. I'm just saying we need to be more patient, see what's in store in the near future, and then we can start pestering the devs to add what we want...
