My current island only had 7 rocks on it :(
LOL
You can go to the islands in the distance with your little raft
It makes for extended gameplay because you have to go to other islands for resources? It'd be shorter if everything was already on your island.
Food wise you're set. Rocks and trees can be bought back in large quantities in one day. You could easily make two, even three, trips if you're efficient enough - in one day.
how you choose to survive is up to you. Some people build a single home island, others build a few. Im personally (this run) trying to go total nomad and live on each island for a short while then moving to the next
First of all this game is in alpha meaning it is a work in progress so be patient. Your not going to have everything this game has to offer at this point because it hasn't been added.
Yes, you are supposed to go to other islands...whether you build a shelter there or not is your choice...but, this game is made so you have to explore and stuff.
1) On your first trip, ALWAYS bring the necessities. A water bottle being one, a weapon of some sort, your lighter, and your paddle.
2) If you reach another island and it rains or gets foggy DO NOT set sail. Stay the night on the island. You WILL regret going out during a storm (easiest way to get lost).
When you do happen to find a compass then you can set sail without the necessities and leave them behind. Most trips I bring a weapon, compass, and my paddle. Your first few trips bring your basics, so if you get lost, you can restart on a new island.
Oh, and always leave home base with full health, hunger, and water. That is essential.
When I hear the term "home base" I like to believe it is a main place where i keep all my things and can also build apon untill it actually becomes a home base. I dont think this game has the capacity for a home base right now, considering you must abondon it and make another one every day.
I only stay on one island though. It has my house, all my food storages, all my treasures, all my weapons.. everything. If I ever lost that island I'd have to restart.
I like to stay in one place and rarely do set sale. Last time I barely made it back alive.. I went out when it was raining and nightfall was approaching.
The moon was so bright it was blinding me to one side. I stopped to open my compass and a shark flipped the raft. I ended up pulling the raft back to my nearby island. Thankfully my compass saved me.
Why do you need to abandon it? Nothing stops you from going back once you have collected what you need from another island.
I cant carry logs across the ocean.
