In your case, I highly recommend looking for the jerry can. It'll refuel/renew you boat motor; unless the renewal also got nerfed.
RAWR!!
Well, supposedly, you can also put boat motors on 3 sides of a raft, and use 2 boat motors to travel diagonally, a lot faster than with just one boat motor. Which makes no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sense why you have to have a 3rd boat motor. *sigh.

2 Words, Flippers!

Not that I can tell, at least not yet. I've swam round trip twice to an island and back and it didnt seem to do much to my hunger or thirst.
I keep meaning to try and test this, but I get the feeling that your health might regenerate faster if you remain still and/or dont use the sprint button.
It is completely speculative as I have been unable to test it properly, and probably just psychosomatic
But whenever my health dropped low I would fill up on food and water then just sit by the fire not moving around.

Task based food usage doesn't seem to be implemented as yet.
Sprinting while swimming is faster (tip, bind forward and sprint to the same key).
Lets say the "base speed" is sprint swimming, no flippers, on surface = 1
Raft with single motor = 1 (yes, you might as well swim)
Sprint swimming, on surface, with flippers = 0.65 times base speed
Sprint swimming, under water, with flippers = 0.65 times on surface speed (0.42 times base)
(come up for air as little as possible)
Rafts with 2 motors are faster than all but only if you can reliably stay on them. Fall off a couple of times and not so. I have a raft with 5 motors on and it's silly fast but can't stay on it :)
Fuel consumption is just very excessive motors. Not worth using imo.
Flippers definately don't stack, tested from 1 through to 7 sets then stopped.
Conclusion = rafts are a pain, I always sprint swim, with flippers, underwater. You outswim sharks.
runSpeed = 7
diveSpeed = 3
diveSprintSpeed = 5
swimSpeed = 1.5
swimSprintSpeed = 3
with flippers on surface (Sprint key not pressed) = swimSprintSpeed *1.5
with flippers underwater (Sprint key not pressed) = swimSprintSpeed *1.25
Edit:
with flippers on surface (Sprint key pressed) = 3.14159274 + 1 * (swimSprintSpeed *1.5)
with flippers underwater (Sprint key pressed) = 3.14159274 + 1 * (swimSprintSpeed *1.25)
Nooooo! you cant do numbers at me at this time of day! my head will
Never mind
