Bad info, worst ever.......

This game has the absolute WORST indication of what to do when you start! It tells you to make this or that but does not give you what you have to do to get it! I tried many dimes to play this game but end up actually hating the people who made it! iidiots

It's a SURVIVAL game, and as such it doesn't hold your hand and tell you step-by-step what to do. It gives you a basic tutorial to help you sort out the basics of how to craft a few things, but everything else is trial and error or try and succeed.

Just like ANY survival game you need to pick up / gather resources to craft the items needed to survive... walk around and pick up rocks and sticks and cloth... use a stone tool or knife or axe to chop trees down (to get logs), and chop the logs to get sticks... use those tools to cut yucca or palm saplings to get fibrous leaves (to make lashings).

To craft items, you need to press and hold C to bring up a small radial menu which will show some possible items that can be crafted using resources in your inventory or nearby on the ground (or combination of both), and usually will show the most common things such as lashings or tinder bundle etc above more complex items.

To get a complete crafting menu (showing every craftable item recipe in the game) TAP C quickly.

You call the devs "idiots" yet it seems to me that you should have a better grasp of how to play these sorts of games if you truly have been gaming for 30 years.

Basically, someone else (Just Rob) agrees with you gigi, that the included tutorial isn't as great as one might wish. If you watch this tutorial, and start with his recommendations, you'll have a great start.

its a game but survival game ....I think not .......It is a buggy unfinished mess tho so the OP is 100% right

The current version is a buggy mess caused by the online coop update... that much is true, (earlier version such as 0.80.01 is a COMPLETED stable version of the game), BUT it doesn't matter the (buggy) state of the current game... It doesn't change the fact that it is a "SURVIVAL" game, meaning you need to eat and drink and treat injuries / poison, and protect yourself from drowning, heat stroke, animal attacks etc... EVEN if all that is extremely easy, once the player learns what to do... through trial and error.

The "tutorial" is there only to guide the player in how to use the menus and craft a few items, but does not give step-by-step instructions, and that is BY DESIGN.

It "teaches" the players how to secure food and water and how to cook and how to save the game and craft some tools.... WHAT more is needed ?

THOUSANDS of other players worked out what to do, so why is an "experienced gamer" struggling so much to play such an easy game as this?

OP is not entirely wrong though. Been playing for 20 minutes and still haven't figured out how to make a refined knife (the first thing) since my backpack is full and I don't know how to empty it and get the yucca (that I had a feeling should be used for lashings and now you confirmed it). The whole survival and building idea is good and fun, but this game takes it a lil' too far, I think. I can't even get started - like I couldn't when I first installed the game, 7 years ago, and gave up. Didn't get past the first item back then either
And I'm not usually a quitter. Just spent 3 hours inching my way back after getting stuck in another survival game; Planet Crafter, to save my savegame. I mention its name because they actually found the balance between survival and ridiculous. So far I'm not seeing it here, but then again; I never really started, did I?
