Question about this game?

Is this strictly a multiplayer game or can this be played alone?

I would much rather say it is strictly a singleplayer game that can be played cooperatively. ;)

You can play the entire game with another friend, either online, or in split screen. The game has been designed to be a singleplayer game initially though, with the coop mode having been added later due to requests. According to player feedback the multiplayer experience can be janky at times, with connect/disconnect issues being by far the greatest problem people have been reporting.

I'll pass then not my kind of game I prefer to play alone by myself not with anyone else I am used to games like that for an example: Subnautica and many others.

You did read the part where I stated it is a game that is designed as a singleplayer game, for one person, right?

You can choose to never, ever play co-op. It works fine that way. In fact... some might even argue (like me) that prior to them adding co-op, it was 'finished'. You can still even choose to downgrade via the steam menu to 0.80.01 version (I think that's the right one), which is just prior to them adding co-op; and that single-player only version is slightly more stable than the latest 'released' version.

Basically, just saying... if you want to try it, the cost of the game has provided me lots of entertainment.

I've only tried the co-op option a couple of times and I'm sure you can chat with the other random player but I wasn't able to figure it out so it wasn't all that fun. However single player is fine with me, I enjoy it. The map editor is at first confusing but after you made a few maps and even watch some youtube videos on the subject you'll learn more about it and make some very good maps. It is true about adding too much loot though but if you have a decent PC you should be fine, up to a point. Enjoy the game!
