Stranded Deep
Any ideas on how I can get out of the plane in the first place?
I've set my moniter to about a dozen contrast and brightness variables, but every time the plane crashes my screen is literally almost completely black, I spend nearly five minutes looking for the escape point and end up getting cranky and quitting.

Does anyone have some clues on how I can escape when I literally cannot see a thing in the game?

I really want to be able to actually play the game I just bought.

Does hitting escape not work? The escape key is supposed to skip the intro and put you straight into the raft after the being unconcious/next day part.

You need to go again to the "minibar". This time, turn left (when originally the door are) and you can find a big hole in the place of the door. Just swiming up and you find your safe raft. Please forgive my english.
Ok, thanks both of you, I'll try both suggestions and see how they go.
Afraid not, even the esc key, which says it's supposed to pause the game in the settings doesn't seem to be actually pausing the game.

Seems a problem with your game. Try to verifiying cache files. ESC key works alwyas for me and jump directly to game. Are you playing Stable or Xperimental?

Stable I believe, I basically just bought the game, and have been trying to get straight into it.

Verifying cache files?

EDIT: Ok, yes. Right clic on the game in your library, go down to "properties" go to "local archives tab" and clic "verify integrity cache..."

you might reinstall the game, it might work :D
I'll try that idea as well.

Maybe it's just that my computer is nearly two years old, mayb it's just too old for the game.

Mmmhh, i think no. My PC is from 2009 with Win 7 x64 installed and runs fine. Hope Cosmo or other can help you. :)

I wouldnt think its age at all, might be worth listing your PC specs for anyone who may look in at this post in a bit, seems an odd thing in the circumstances but it seems a weird problem.
I know Z used to be the key before I think so that might be worth a try?
I had a real mess around rebinding keys in both the launch menu and in the game options, but even rebinding a different key to the same functions the escape usualy does didn't change its function during the intro :KSad:
Do you have a controller/joystick plugged in?
The only other thing I could suggest would be to go through your keys during the intro and see if any of them make it skip it, the only other possible recourse would be to wait and hopefully someone who knows this problem or how to fix it will come along. Sorry I havent been much help :/

Start a new game, and press escape before the game actually gives you control of it. Like right away when cut scene starts.

If I recall correctly, at one point you could not bypass the intro the first time you played the game. Once you had a save file it let you bypass the intro, but until then Z and later ESC did not work during the intro.

As for escaping the plane, swim forward and when you can't go any farther forward turn left and swim out the blown hatch, then up towards the flames. Find the raft and climb in, wait for engine to blow and then it goes on to the normal game.
OK, thank you for the suggestions, I'll try them.
Still no luck, I tried screenshooting it, but I don't know how to, I can't tell when I can no longer move in the dark, so I just hold it for about a minute, then try going left, but it still sound like I'm under the water, sometimes the explosions seem to get louder, but I can't see anything resembling a fire or even a bright patch of orange that might be considered one.
