Once you have killed the shark you need a machete to chop it into juicy shark steaks which you then cook on a fire spit.

One frag grenade placed very close to the big tiger shark takes him out fast!
I had to wait for him to come close in the shallows for it to work.

It doesn't HAVE to be a machete. Pocket knifes, axes, anything sharp will do. Technically you could probably even use a rock shard.

I killed my first tiger shark and drug it ashore. Been whacking at it for a few minutes with a refined axe and nothing. loaded and killed another one. same result. Seems I am unable to cut the shark open. I've tried the refined axe and a machete.

Update: no durability loss. There is sound effect of making proper contact. I'm very disappointed that my first kill will spoil on the beach.

Since this thread has been resurrected, you now need a crude knife to skin ALL animals before cooking or smoking....

So, the second part of your question my friend, agree the game does change rather sporadically and the documentation can be/get stale, so keep an eye on the pinned topics in the forum, and if still in doubt, ask away..... we'll always try and help..
