Stranded Deep
Shipping Containers?
I've found a few in game so far, always empty. Any use for them at the moment?

hit them with an axe to get panels and the container doors for building

They do not fit in your inventary, so you need to drag them.

Thanks. I'll bring my trusty axe on my next expedition. Didn't have it with me when I'd found them before.

You have to hit the sides with an axe on a certain point, after a few hits the pannels and the door get loose. Withe the right mouse button pressed, you can carry them to your camp. I have build a storage shed for food and one for other material, both based on a single steel scrabs platform.

@PolCzio, to destroy/detach objects that are also interactable you need to click repeatedly with a weapon (not holding down) to slowly damage them :)

So, will they sink my boat if I try to bring them to a different island? Or am I pretty much required to build on the island I find the container on if i want one?

of course you can use the doors, you have to loosen them with the axe form the inside (on the side frame). Look in the craft menue, they are even the only doors availabe there. And they even work (open and close). I bhave build two sheds with them.

Do they connect well to non container walls? or does it look weird? For that matter do container walls connect with non container wall, or do they also look weird? I havent had a chance to play in a while, so i havent been able to check them out at all.

they also connect to wood walls but that looks really weired. I only use them with container walls. That looks ok.

If anyone wants to mess with container door/walls, use the seed 40123082. Head north to the center island, you'll find 2 containers on the east side of the center island.

Make a custom island and place it in the grid below the center, with all the mats to build whatever you want to play with the door/walls.

You can't carry the container parts. Swim or fly them to the mats island.

Have fun.

No option to place containers in the map editor?

Thanks for the replies everyone. Containers are fun.

Found out how to transfer container doors island for island. trick is to have 2 rafts, or the default inflatable raft + a wooden raft.

what you do is drag the container door onto your wooden raft.. and simply drag that raft along with you while you sit in the inflatable one.

or alternatively. position it in front of you. and paddle behind it. slowly making your way to the next island. i successfully transported a door quite a distance. but it did take some patience.

Alright, I was hoping I wasnt going to have to do the flying trick, its so slow, and arguably not in the true spirit of the game."Im stranded in the pacific, far from land, surrounded by the angry sea, thank god i can levitate."

has anyone tried using the shipping container as a shelter in itself (rather than just a material source)?

Sure, considering as far as I can tell shelter doesnt do anything at all, I hung out in a container until i determined the island it was on was useless.
