Stranded Deep
Tips on traveling with barrel scrap?
Anyone got any ideas on how to carry barrels from islands to your home base besides swimming?

don't try and put them on your raft and haul them. If you place them correctly they will stay on (the starter liferaft) but you will move like 10x as slow as normal speed

best way to do it is put it close to your raft, board the raft (activate the raft or the sail or the motor) then right click to pickup the barrel and head home while carrying it. Thats the best we can do now unless somethings changed. I just wish there was a way to store large quantities of sticks and rocks...

Yes until we get more raft building options with containers this is the only good way to do it.

I had a transport raft 1 version earlier (5 bases wide X 4 bases long with 3x2 space in the middle where I didnt put any floor <-- credit to sb on this forum) which worked very very well for up to 2 container doors/walls at once, any more and the buoyancy was too weak.
This is good for everything else, but buoy balls and barrels will most likely fall/slide off to the front in rough waters (+they have had way too high weight values to make them 'raftable' in 1 version earlier, haven't checked here yet)

lol wow, I still dont get how I did miss that :D
I didnt even bother pressing E haha, I just tried once to load them on the raft then decided to always add them to my current one or leave them be :D

thanks Wolfe Bane :steammocking:

I try and press E on EVERYTHING. I do it in all games. It's from Skyrim and those types of games. MUST PICK UP ALL THE THINGS!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give it a try.

I wish you could make buoy balls a water container. I mean, why not? I could cut a hole in it with a sharp rock.

Good idea, would love to see this be added.

Please also consider craftable land containers + craftable storage containers for rafts so we can transport stuff easier in the end game.

--> I know the raft part especially will be a lot of work for you.

I dont want to cry over 'missing' features, just want you to hear of the idea in case you haven't already - please add this to the features when you are happy with the rest of the game's basics :)

Just tried and succeded on a maybe barrel solution. Found 3 on a wreck way out in middle of no where. No way was I going to get all three back, so i added them to my present raft. At least the barrels did not goto waste. I happened to have all the items needed with me after scvenging an island so now i at least have the larger raft:)

I have a 5x3 base custom-built raft with a sail in the center, and I was able to transport 2 barrels by standing them upright on either side of the sail. The only issue I had was when I ran into an underwater obstruction which stopped my raft and sent the barrels flying forward, but thankfully I was very close to my home island at that point.

I was wondering what would happen to having 2 sails then laying barrels btween them. No idea if this may work but maybe:)

It would be so cool if they made us able to tie down items on our rafts using lashing and maybe another item.
Uccello Mar 23, 2016 @ 8:04pm
agreed but you would still have to load evenly or risk flipping in rougher seas
Noobih Mar 23, 2016 @ 8:04pm
The sail doesn't seem to have any collision, so your barrels will just move right through them, unfortunately.

well it was a thought anyway
