Can't find deep sea biome/deep sea fish

When I played this game about a year ago, I was able to go into deep sea biomes to hunt cod fish/giant bass. These biomes would be indicated by buoys found at the surface of the water.

After a couple of updates, I can't find the deep sea biome anymore. I never see any buoys, great whites, or whales, and no matter how far out I go I still never find any deep sea fish.

I tried going outwards as far as I could, and eventually I reached a line of yellow spheres floating in the water. Around this area, the water was very deep, but there were only Archer fish in the water. Along the way I checked the water several times and encountered the same thing. There were no buoys, great whites, or other deep sea fish there.

I'm not sure what happened, but the deep sea biome seems to have been removed. Was this intentional? Will it ever return? Has anyone else noticed any of this?

I've seen the yellow spheres too. I don't know what they represent other than after it is deep ocean with little to no fish or plants/atmosphere. And yeah, I haven't seen any buoys, now that I think about it.

No islands are being created past the buoys. ;)

Thanks, but do you know about the cod, great whites, etc? Are they all removed from the game right now, or am I just unlucky in attempting to find them?

The latter. Haven't been actively looking for them, but they should be there, somewhere.

Cody, great whites and whales are definitely still there. They'll only be in the very deep biomes, the very dark ones on your world screen.
