"Press return."
There is no "Return" key on my keyboard, so I can't even get past this screen.

What kind of joke is this?

Remember typewriters? The 'Return' key is just another name for the 'Enter' key.

Those things you save your game with in Resident Evil 4? What about them?

"Return" is another name for "Enter?" Then why not just say Enter??

The return key was the key to return the carriage in electrical typewriters and the name has been used synonymously to enter since the beginning of the home computer age.

Why not be thankful for learning something new today and just hit the enter key when a "Press Return" prompt comes up and be done with it?! ;)

I don't wanna learn something new. Call it enter like a normal person. Avoids confusion.

I call it 'Enter', don't know what you're talking about. I do however know that calling it the 'Return' key is also correct. :)

Not if the key says "Enter." Then Return would be incorrect since it says Enter and not Return.

Well, my key doesn't say enter. It has an arrow on it. :P
I know this comment is snarky... (and I'm debating whether I should write it at all, blame a lack of caffeine today?).

-Obtain piece of tape.
-obtain a writing implement capable of making marks on piece of tape obtained.
-using that writing implement, in whatever language you prefer, make marks that represent, to you, what might be interpreted as the English value of 'Return'
-place said tape carefully over the "enter" key, the one on the keyboard above the SHIFT key--specifically, the SHIFT key on the right-hand side of the keyboard, because you probably have two.
CAVEATS: Your SHIFT key may not be labeled. In which case... I can't help you.

EDIT: SOURCE for this workaround. I was the one who had to help (in the 90s), the secretary to the then-geriatric lawyer partner at the law firm, how to CLEARLY LABEL the Space Bar as "Any", because at the time the application that lawyer needed to use had instructions to "press any key to continue". And... they couldn't handle not having a key LABELED 'any'.

Some actually call it the "return" key and not "enter", there may actually be people who would say the opposite as you, whatever a normal person is I won't go into other than saying normal is mostly just what society tells us or whatever an individual think it is ;)

Most "normal" keyboards has a Return key at the right side of the letter sections, it has this symbol ⏎, and if there is a num pad section the lower right is usually the Enter key, on a computer they do the same thing :)

I mean technically it's not supposed to be called the Enter key at all. The Enter key is on the number pad, it's proper name IS the return key. There IS a difference too, they don't always have the same function, have different return codes, and can be bound separately in most applications.

So then if return is the proper name why does the key not say return?

Just call it the arrow key then and leave us understanding and knowing people alone. Gosh, as if the world doesn’t have enough problems!!!

The same reason space bar doesn't say space bar. Any other silly questions? Nearly EVERY key is represented with a symbol rather than a word, and the standard symbol ON the return key is the return symbol.

The enter key does in fact say enter on it though, should have been your first clue. Most keyboards Don't say "shift" on the shift key either.

OH! ME! ME!

So, in this game I play, why is it that when I press enter it exits the room? When I turn around and press return it actually works and I'm back where I started. Does that mean my enter key is broken or is the game just badly optimized?
