How do you use the container shelf?

Once you build it, have a wooden container in hand and interact with the shelf.

You find them. Try shallow wrecks at first. They let you carry 3 times the stuff per slot. Once in a container shelf, you do not even have to carry them in your backpack.

Also container shelf can be placed on the raft.

are you sure?
when i put stuff in the stack size is the same as what it is in my backpack.

it just seems to lock them down so they dont fall off the raft is all it appears to me now that i got one

3 times the stuff per slot because a chest only takes up 1 slot in your inventory, you can fill the chest up with stuff that would take 3 slots in your inventory but the chest will only take 1 slot.
