Can someone explain the air tank?

How does it work exactly and how do I find deep wrecks? I've seen bubbles for things, but they've all been reachable without needing an air tank. Where would I find something that needs the air tank, and do I have to have the air tank equipped somehow or just in my inventory?

The air tanks are little hand-held emergency air sources. You have to be holding it, and then "use" it with the LMB. The little tanks do not hold much air, just a couple breaths--I can't remember since I hardly ever use them.

But they can be livesavers if you are taking too long getting out of a wreck, or are playing hide-and-seek with a shark.

If I remember correctly, the darker parts of your map are generally where you will find the deeper wrecks you can salvage. This is where the air tanks would come in handy if you are swimming deep and running low on air. I've personally not had to use an air tank yet, but if I know I'm headed deep, I make sure my health is at max first. Just as well, since I have only located 4 or 5 tanks - they do not appear to be as common on my map as other items. (Seems odd that I have found over 20 buckets so far though... which do obviously come in handy.) Perhaps item drops are random... I do not know.

P.S. ... Make sure you bring vitamins ( I think it's the vitamins - the green/white bottle) with you also. When you go deep, you will get sick ('I don't feel so good'), and taking the vitamin after will help you. I think sleep also helps you after if you do not have vitamins handy.

I play version 0.32.01 and I found air tanks. But how do I use them?? I tried to use them under water with LMB, like I use other things, but it doesn't work, instead I drown. So how do I use them??

The air tanks are also used to make a speargun which fires speargun arrows above or under water.....very handy item.
