How do I build foundation?

I understand how it's done in earlier versions of game where you start with a lighter, water bottle, etc. However, I just picked this game up recently, and I have a hammer in my hand adn8 sticks in my backpack as well as 8 sticks on the ground, but I have no option anywhere to craft a foundation. Is this a bug in newer version, or am missing something? Anyone... Bueller?

You'll need a hammer, at least. That's your be-all for house building stuff. Once you have the hammer, consult your crafting menu "C" and look over what you want to build. You'll need lots of lashings and whatever mats to build your thing, like sticks, metal, or whatever. It's pretty cool caus you can make your house the same type of material or make it a bizarre calico construct of anything you can get your hands on.

I have the hammer, (in my hand), and plenty of sticks and lashing.,but there is no option in my Crafting for building a foundation. In the earlier release the 8 sticks on the ground would all turn blue, but in this latest release the 8 sticks on the ground are 8 individual sticks, and placing the mouse over one only allows it to be put it back into the backpack. Anyone have a solution?

You did hit the "C" button as Snidely rightfully suggested, right?

Are you in the correct tab of the building menu? There is a emblem that looks like a house. That has the house portions.

I told you what you needed. It's your own problem if you can't even do something simple as "you need a hammer" and open up your crafting menu "C". You seem confused what useful information is vs. useless information, since every other post that's responded has basically affirmed what I told you.

BTW, you also can't take a joke with the videos, which are obviously hammer-related. Do get it now? Also, your nick is somewhat contradictory. I'd consider "Why so serious?"

Thank you PartyPyrate for giving me the answer I needed. It was my bad for not ever seeing the icons to the left on the "C" menu despite playing this game for hours. Snidely, I apologize for "barking" at you for not solving my frustration. That being said, the videos are not appropriate in this forum. No hard feelings. Perhaps we will meet at sea one day. :)
