How to get more rocks to craft?

Hi, is there any way to get more rocks to craft or repair tools? The island is full of big stones but i can`t seem to smash them down into pieces. Do i really have to visit another island in order to get stones? I can`t even build the stuff to do so without stones :/ how are we supposed to play? The way`s to survive are very linear and limited if we only have stones for 2-3 tools. Please help

Yea, thats what i asked to get around of. I can`t even leave my Island without having more stones.

I did read that this one is not safe enough to travel. Well if that one is okay i guess i can move around with it. Do you loot the islands and then get back to your starting one, or do you build new bases?

It's safe... Just super slow. I wish there was a deflate/popping mechanic. I tend to pack bags and find a med to large island to build base and then sack the remaining islands.

If you want to mostly know where your main island is always use some sticks to make an arrow pointing at your island on the island that you are exploring and leave it there.
And then just keep putting arrows pointing from island to island so you can find your way back.

How do you "place" sticks in an arrow shape? All I've been able to do is drop things, and they fall pretty random. I've just started, and I find the controls very limited and coming up short. Thanks.

Right Mouse button - hold it when mouseover. Then drag :D

Jeebus. I think there's actually more rocks on islands now than when it was back in the day. You had like 6-10 rocks and had to go around your area looking for more. Nowadays, I have more rocks than I know what to do with. Now I have problems just having enough Yucca plants and lashings. Seems to take forever for Yuccas to respawn and the Yucca : lashing fibers are a lot worse now than it was eons ago.
