Why can't I get lashing from palm fronds?

Seems kinda cut and dry. Seems to me it's very logical to be able to use the knife or stone tool to cut palm fronds into a high-volume source of lashing. Baby palms and yucca are not a steady source and the starting island might not have enough to make everything you'd need (water, shelter, spear (or bow), and s on). Not even to meantion a raft.

Baby Palms respawn quite often. You'd be hard pressed to run out.

I still think it'd be a good use for palm fronds.

I didnt know those respawned, i've been saving them them for no reason >.< Do trees respawn yet or is that crazy talk?

Also, just keep in mind that the game is not meant to be easy to survive. It's a survival game and it's meant to be tough. Otherwise t would be very boring. It forces you to venture out and find other sources of materials elsewhere.
