Can you kill snakes?

Tried throwing spears and it just moved the snake around the spear. And I cant get close enough to hit it without being bitten.

i think you misunderstood. i hit the snake and then climb a tree or a BIG rock

I just tested it and ironically it's true anyway! The range was limited, but it turns out it is possible. :) I do try to stay far away from them, though.

you can kill snakes, i just killed 2 about 10 minutes ago, it takes 2 arrows to kill them, if i did not make it obveous, you need a bow

This totally kills the immersion that they can't be killed, I just experienced my first and practically wasted half my health thinking one arrow was going to be enough to kill it...

I love it. You need a Crude Bow and 2 Arrows to kill a snake. In most cases when you hit a snake it will come for you. Hit the walking backwards till you reach the water or the snake stops to follow. Then the snake will go ramped and move around till it settles down again. Shot it again, and if you hit it, it will do small jump and you can walk up, skin the snake with the knife and you will get a small serving of meat and you can pick your to arrows up.

a lot of people are getting caught up on the one shot one kill thought. if you have ever hunted wild pig (like here in texas) one shot from an .06 sometimes dont bring them down much less one arrow. in fact you dont want to hunt them with a bow unless you got good cover. they will eat your lunch. i can see where one arrow wont stop a good diamond back rattler. never killed one with a bow but it usually takes cutting off the head to kill them.

You can also just throw spears at them to kill them. Two crude spear hits or one refined spear hit.

Hold down the right mouse button to enter throw mode, then left click to throw. They arc a bit (obviously) so you'll have to adjust aim based on the distance.

This also works for killing boar, sharks, and rays

In my opinion, the refined spear is the best! That way you won't have to backtrack or try to escape; one shot, one kill.

I threw spear at snake and now it moves with spear on its body. easy to notice where snake goes but its not possible to kill it.

You can kill it, you just need to hit it again.
