Clay??
Am I missing something?? Is there a way to spot clay from the surface? Any tell-tale signs like the wrecks have or is diving and swimming about the only way to find it?

Sometimes you can see clay nodes just below the surface in the shallows, but they can also be in the deeper water, they are orange-brownish(copper-like) and looks a bit like the rock nodes :)

Yeh, I can find them ok. Was just wondering if there were sufface clues like the wrecks have (bubbles or whatever on the surface) to save me having to just swim around looking for them

Oh I missed that in your question, but no there is nothing on the surface that will reveal them :)

Cheers frillen :) Just gonna have to keep swimming around then.

Speaking of clay, has anyone seen a regen of this? Perhaps I missed something, but over 135 days in now I thought I got all of it from around my home. yet some appear to be showing up again. They seem a bit smaller, so that might be a clue I didn't hammer it all or something.

Tried to find a list of everything that regens that people know of as well. So far I've been harvesting nearby islands for lumber and leaves. Being careful not to cut down all the huge palms. Not sure why that is, thought I read it some place about regens. I take it coconuts don't regen but honestly I have very little use for them now except in emergencies. I understand the crabs don't regen.

Also thought I noticed today the pool of fish by my island starting to dwindle (perhaps it was the light of the time of day or something not sure).

I have never seen clay respawn, it's likely that it's a clay node you either had been interrupted at or couldn't finish.
Fish pools will always be there but their number can vary depending on the time of the day.

Things that we know respawns: All small fish, sharks, stingrays, marlins(rare), seagulls, bats, young palm trees, wild potatoes, yucca :)

So likely wood and all minable resources are limited to each world. Be curious when I'm going to run out worldwide as I suspect the game though easier now is going to get much tougher towards the end.

By then I suppose I'll want to restart or be forced to in a new update or something. I guess forced is a bad word since I think I can go back to a previous build. But for now curious of the new development.

Doesn't stone spawn? And sticks? Like float up on your island, cause that is what I seem to experience.

I have NEVER in the course of this game seen a Marlin or a Great White (thank god). Tiger sharks and reef dharks yah and a bunch of fish, but neeveer seen the Marlin or a GW. Guess they are just that rare lol.

I think that for the sake of progression in the crafting/building area, respawns might be a thing. Especially if they add a way to repair your tools. There will have to be a respawn or even a salvaging system. otherwise resources will just dwidle to next to nothing.

Now I am not saying stuff needs to respawn every day, but every in game week, maybe 2, that would at the very least prevent people from exploiting the save feature to respawn items too fast.

If any of those resource dependant ideas come along you can bet they will have to include respawned resources.

I don't think a respawn of of the more rare resources would prevent people from editing the save files, it would only end up destroying the higher tiers since they wouldn't be hard to obtain anymore and make a lot of people stop explore further out.
There's actually a lot of clay, but some of it is in deeper water than before the update which does make sense since it is the highest tier :)

If they set a long but reasonable respawn it really wont destroy anything. because if later they add storms damaging houses, even top teir houses, we will have to find more to repair. And under the current system any walls that get destroyed or tools that break, those resources are gone forever. In that instance a resource respawn would be completeely viable for progression as well as sustainability.
