also it would be cool to have a trade items ingame when we are 2 players there instead of just Q down the items so the other one picks them up
First let them attempt to fix the bugs that co-op caused, and THEN, maybe start requesting
for more players.
I've been saying for years that co-op was going to be a LOT more than simply letting an additional player join the same map... The game was developed, in it's entirety, to be a single player game, and suddenly, after the fact, they attempted to give the "squeeky wheels" their precious co-op, and ended up breaking the game.
they were talking about adding coop in 2015, it just for what ever reason took them a while to finally add it in. A proper QA team would of avoided the issues we are having now, i am not sure who would look at this update and think its alright. The game is still in early access so its normal for EA games to have issues would be different if the game was out of EA.
The "claim" that Beamteam promised to eventually add co-op, has been rumored and thrown around for years, in these forums, and simply not true... Even moderators have ended many an argument, stating the facts that Beamteam never promise multiplayer.
IF, and I mean hypothetically, they ever had any plans to make this game co-op, they wouldn't have spent years developing it as a single player-only game, without adding allowances, in the coding, for future additions of co-op.... They would have been developing and coding the game as a co-op game, where playing solo was the norm, and could be "activated" to be a co-op game when / if the time came.
One good example is the sleep system... you used to HAVE to sleep, to recover stamina levels, but they had to shut off that mechanic once they added splitscreen co-op, because it was designed for single-player, and there was no way to implement, that mechanic with more than one person... If they were designing the game to be multiple players, sleep would have never been part of the game in the first place.
It's very obvious this game was never intended to be co-op, and the recent patch bugs, proves that in spades.
They tried to bring co-op to their game because so many people requested it, but found out there's a LOT more to it than just allowing an extra player on the map.
please do some research before making assumptions and calling it a rumor, when its actually facts. just a quick search through these discussions you will find that they started working on coop only 5 months after the game released.
june 22 2015," The upgrade to Unity 5 on our experimental build has fixed these problems and improved performance in general. So in between working on the terrain and coop, we decided to push forward with this update and will be testing it’s stability in the next week or so as a candidate for a stable release. Bug reports are handy, so if you find any post them here on the steam forum here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/313120/discussions/7/
Everything else is progressing nicely. Unfortunately, a lot of it is pretty boring to read about. We’ve been running a lot of test projects for coop gameplay, testing the best ways to sync everything between players, ai, etc and the larger island tests are also looking promising. "

Coop
We’re starting to look into coop. Co-op isn’t a high priority on our list as a feature - we’ve always said that we’re focusing on a solid single player game first - but we’re going to be rewriting a lot of existing systems, so now’s the time to get the basics implemented as a lot of the new systems will need to build on it. Basically, if we don’t lay the foundation for co-op now, we’ll end up needing to rewrite a lot of code to support it, or even worse, tack on or duplicate existing functionality for coop gameplay.
There are some problems and choices to be made. If you’ve played the game, you’ve probably noticed that Stranded Deep relies on a lot of physics, picking things up, throwing them around, etc. In general, physics and networking is a pain. We’re still looking into it, but there might be some compromises and changes. Right now we’re running tests and looking into the best way to synchronise everything.

thats definitely not a promise
I understand the massive demand for multiplayer from the community, but I wish they'd focus on fixing all of the single player issues first. That's what the game was intended to be when I bought it, and I'd like to be able to make it through the game without having my raft shelves floating 6 feet off the raft. Not to mention sharks noclipping through the damn beach.
