How to download / subscribe to custom islands
There seems to be a lot of activity in the forum (regarding new players) over the past week or so, probably due to Stranded Deep being on sale over the holidays. I've seen several posts from people showing an interest in the custom islands in the Workshop. A few had problems setting everything up; so I thought I would create a set of instructions for subscribing to custom islands for those of you who are interested:

How to download / subscribe to custom islands:

1. Click the "Workshop" link at the top of the page.

2. In the Workshop, islands are available in 3 categories:

A. Most popular.

B. Top rated all time.

C. Most recent.

3. There's something good to be found in all of the categories, it all depends on what you're looking for. Make sure you read the descriptions and look at the pictures provided for each island. This will ensure that you find what you're looking for.

4. Once you find an island that you like, simply click the "Subscribe" button. Repeat this process until you've accumulated all of the islands that you want to place on your map.

5. Now open your game and go to the "Cartographer." Then open the "Community" tab in the upper left corner. You should see all of the islands that you just subscribed to.

6. The next step is to place the islands on your map. It's more or less a simple drag and drop process: Mouse over the first custom island that you want to place. Left click and hold your mouse button, and drag the island over the top of an existing island (on the map) that you want to replace. Then release your left mouse button. Note, you cannot place a custom island randomly in the ocean. You must replace one of the existing islands on your map. However, after placing a custom island, you can replace it with another custom island whenever you like. Or, simply remove it from the map and another vanilla island will replace it.

7. The last step is to click the "Apply" button in the bottom left hand corner of your screen. That's it. You're done.

8. Repeat the process for the remaining islands that you want to place. Once finished, enter your game and the islands will be there for you to explore.

9. NOTE: You cannot replace the island that you (your avatar) are currently on—the island will be depicted in red in the cartographer. For example, if you want to replace the center, starting island… travel to another island. Then leave the game. Go to the cartographer and you should be able to replace the center island.

Congratulations, you've just enhanced your (future) exploration experience in Stranded Deep. Now go have some fun…

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
